Title: Network and Capacity Planning Manager
Role Description: We are looking to bring on a Network & Capacity Planning Manager to manage and build out our network and capacity planning function at ShipBob. With a growing global network of 35 fulfillment centers and counting, we need a detail oriented person to ensure we always have sufficient capacity to service new and existing merchants. You will work to understand current and projected capacity, help with new site locations, and load balance orders across our network amongst other initiatives. As we grow you will be responsible for hiring, training and managing a team of analysts to support our capacity and network planning initiatives. What you'll do:
  • Work with process managers, site leaders, and regional directors to meticulously track current network capacity.
  • Calculate and explain network capacity needs, working with ShipBob Fulfillment Network (SFN) senior leadership to choose new site locations, determine required order output by site, and decide on needed size of each site.
  • Create and keep up to date CAD models of all of our facilities.
  • Design new site templates that optimize flow while accounting for client and product mix, the number of dock doors, ceiling height, etc.
  • Work on any racking expansion projects within our facilities to ensure locations in our system always reflects the reality on the ground.
  • Ensure new sites do not remain vacant for an extended period to create a positive experience for our fulfillment partners. Determine clients to move to newly launched sites, working with finance, merchant success, and SFN teams.
  • Collaborate with implementation managers to ensure the layout of each new site aligns with network needs.
  • Work with the sales operations team to create a robust process for understanding the storage needs on new clients and incorporating this into our capacity planning.
  • Be the primary point of contact for large sales prospects to ensure we are sending the locations with adequate capacity for their current and future needs.
  • Be responsible to build out capacity modeling for all new SFN sites.
  • Create part of the team to support strategic expansion in the SFN network.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
What you'll bring to the table:
  • 5+ years of experience in fulfillment capacity planning.
  • Comfort with running analytical simulations and reconciling data across multiple systems.
  • Experience using a CAD software of your choice.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of SQL, Excel, and Python is strongly preferred.
  • Established track record of taking ownership and producing results.
