This is a MySQL DBA position responsible for critical databases in Production,Stage,Dev and QA environments. Expertise in high availability, performance and scalability. Daily activities will include supporting critical MySQL databases, performing monitoring and space management and fine tuning database

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring the database uptime meets or exceeds agreed service levels
• Maintain or exceed the agreed performance level
• Carrying out routine administration and maintenance
• Analyze current database setup and enhance as required including migrations
• Verify and enhance current monitoring as required
• Verify and enhance security for the databases including the encryption
• Work closely with development teams to optimize the queries, SPs etc.
• Work closely with system admin and security teams
• Provide proactive periodic statistics on database availability, utilization etc.
• Carrying out requested changes and deployments during weekdays and weekends/holidays as per deployment cycles/project plan
• Constantly look for operational and commercial efficiencies with respect to database service

Skills

• Experience in installing, configuring and managing different flavors and versions of MySQL database
• Experience in working with AWS Cloud, AWS RDS, Windows and Linux operating systems from a database admin perspective
• Experience in setting up and managing security for database eg. access control, encryption
• Experience with snapshot, clustered and non-clustered configuration, replication, volume backup and routine data protection methodologies
• Experience in dealing with database related cyber threats like SQL Injection
• Proficiency in troubleshooting database issues
• Proficiency in debugging storage issues
• Exposure to other databases like PostGres, Oracle, MS SQL a plus
• Ability to write scripts a big plus
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals like DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS
• Experience in working with global clients, in a multi-cultural environment
• Excellent Problem solving skills
• Industry/vendor certification preferred
• Good communication skills
