Role Summary/Purpose: As the Surveillance Manager, you are responsible for understanding the risks and the controls that mitigate the risks for the L3 processes your team surveils. You will be a key partner for Process Owners ensuring we provide them key insights to how well their processes are running and when risks appear, helping point to the key areas so the problems can be identified, and solutions can be put in place to bring the process back to running smooth and effective. Your goal will be fostering a team environment where the team has strong process knowledge for the processes they surveil, curiosity to dig into things that do not seem correct, and strong partnership with Process Owners to deliver insights into process capability. You will also be looking for opportunities to evolve surveillance to fit the changes the process owners and business is making to protect our customers, our clients and the Bank. You may be occasionally requested to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Essential Responsibilities: Act as Owners: Own the surveillance routines for our L3 Process owners ensuring sufficient coverage of Operational and Compliance risks. You will be responsible for leading a team of Senior Surveillance Specialists, who will be executing controls. You will ensure timely and effective communication of insights to the Process Owners so they can quickly address any risks that come up in their processes. Champion Customer: Foster an environment of digging into areas that do not fit a good Customer Experience and drive real root cause analysis with the Process Owners to solve our customers challenges. Elevate every day: Identify potential process improvements and drive simplification throughout the organization. Relate and Inspire: Foster an environment of trust and respect leveraging the strengths of the individuals on the team. Drive and Facilitate changes to surveillance routines to fit changes in the business, new products or clients and ensuring our customers are handled properly regardless of product they have, or the channel in which they contact us. Build strong lasting partnerships with both Process Owners and 2nd Line of Defense to ensure risk mitigation is effective. Ensure surveillance routines follow the standards, are performed correctly, are designed to detect risk and are clearly documented. Provide expertise and clarity of responses during engagements with 2nd LOD, 3rd LOD and our regulators. Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor\'s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 2-5 years experience within Tech & Ops in a financial service industry OR in lieu of degree, minimum 4-7 years\' experience within Tech & Ops in a financial service industry. 2+ years of surveillance experience. L5+ Employees are eligible to apply Desired Characteristics: People management - Experience managing a team or in lieu of managing a team, leading a large project driven by several team members - tell us about your leadership style and/or a time you had to lead a project team responsible for a large initiative Experience utilizing data to tell a story of how a process or project is working with the ability to focus on key root causes of risks. Strong working knowledge of our systems of record FD, DM, Fiserv, Vision+, etc. Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Microsoft Excel, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint) - we want to hear about how you use Microsoft office tools to accomplish your day-to-day objectives Experience with either our Consumer Banking products or our large Commercial accounts. Solid Project Management Skills - be prepared to share how you stay organized, keep engaged with your project team and stakeholders to complete projects on time High energy, self-motivated, with strong communication skills (verbal and written) - tell us about a personal goal you have set and achieved for yourself and share a time you used communication skills to gain buy-in Customer Service Operations
