Job description Business: Exceptional Underwriting Open positions: 1 Role Title: Manager - Processing Global Career Band: 6 Location (Country/city)- Hyderabad Recruiter Name: Sunny Dogra The Opportunity: Perform judgmental underwriting for unsecured and secured lending proposals under the appropriate lending authority delegated by the Head of RBWM Risk / any other authorized Senior Manager Manage approvals within the permitted quota of SLA in line with appropriate controls, company standards, regulatory guidelines and all applicable credit approval procedures. Identify and provides regulatory and technical training to direct reports and other members of the RCS team Establish and maintain relationships with key business area stakeholders What you\'ll do: (List out Key Responsibilities): Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas Impact on the Business/Function Underwrite individual credit within assigned authority for secured and unsecured lending proposals ensuring adherence to all applicable credit approval procedures. Underwrite proposals understanding the complexities within the lending guidelines. Able to assimilate a large amount of information and make effective decisions on a wide range of issues. Contribute to formation of immediate business/function strategy. Share best practice and learning points across other teams and GSC sites. Observe trends in the application sourcing, quality of data and front office checks, customer profiles and exceptions to proposals and advise Business to make improvements. Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the role that require a continual test of the role holder\'s abilities) The position has judgmental underwriting responsibility for retail credit processes. The position has complete freedom to act within prescribed authority and involves screening information accurately to clarify situations that will help in making a favorable retail credit lending decision for the bank, within the permitted quota of SLA. The job further involves observing trends in the application sourcing, quality of data and front office checks, customer profiles and exceptions to proposals to enable the Business to make improvements. . Role context . The job holder is required to work under the appropriate lending authority delegated by the Head of RBWM Risk / any other authorized Senior Manager . Where items of major consequence are involved, reference is made to the regional risk team (onshore). . The nature of the role requires close working contact with executives in the offshore business region, as well as with immediate line manager & skip level manager. Management of Risk (Operational Risk / FIM requirements) The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology. This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department. To be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role, and ensure that all actions during their employment with HSBC take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring. To implement the Group Compliance policy locally by managing compliance risk in liaison with line management or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring training is undertaken, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators Observation of Internal Controls Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators\' The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators. Role Dimensions Verify loan documentation and other relevant information to underwrite credit facilities under the assigned lending authority. Underwrite proposals understanding the complexities within the lending guidelines and within the permitted quota of SLA. Review of AEL listing proposals basis the guidance provided Manage escalations and high ticket referrals made for exceptional underwriting Meet and exceed PLA and KPI targets (Quality, RPH and Operating Efficiency). Produce MI as required. Observe trends in the application sourcing, quality of data and front office checks, customer profiles and exceptions to proposals and advice the Business to make improvements. Identify and escalate potential risks, operational and otherwise. Assist the front and back office staff with answers to queries on Credit Policy and processes and ensure that the controls and checks put in place by RCS are adhered to. Foster development of co-workers. Requirements What you will need to succeed in the role: Bachelor\'s degree in accounting/finance or experience in relevant field is essential. Good understanding of MENA market, their regulatory requirements, credit policies, currencies, market trends, etc. Awareness of the types and nature of credit products and processes would be an advantage Strong analytical, problem-solving, communications, financial and interpersonal skills Working knowledge of MS Office Ability to work as an effective team member within the department and the company as a whole Ability to be flexible and willing to change along with changes in corporate and department objectives in addition to recommending changes to assist in meeting these objectives Respect other people\'s point of view and ability to receive constructive feedback Knowledge of MENA market & its functioning is preferred Minimum of 1-year experience in exceptional underwriting or 2-3 years of experience in unsecured lending, Customer\'s affordability check, credit assessment and review of financials.
