The Role Responsibilities

Job Role

The role of Manager, Governance, COO, will work as part of a team to support the Head, People and Governance, COO, in managing the frameworks which allow GIA to assess and report on risks arising within GIA; this will include, but isn\xe2\x80\x99t limited to, operational risk, conduct risk and other risk types.

The role requires someone with an eye for detail who can also step back to articulate the broader risk landscape. This isn\xe2\x80\x99t an audit delivery role, but someone with a good understanding of audit and risk would be well positioned to take this up.

This role works with the Senior Manager, Governance, COO to identify opportunities for more effective and efficient management of the function\xe2\x80\x99s risks, assess the impact of changes on the function\xe2\x80\x99s risk profile, develop communications and deliver training relating to key areas of risk facing GIA.

In addition, the role holder will support the management of GIA\xe2\x80\x99s co-source engagement framework, ensuring that the processes are understood across GIA to meet all vendor management requirements.

Strategy

The role supports improved performance in the function by ensuring its risks are managed effectively, in a way which meets the changing needs of the audit function of the future.

The role holder will be expected to support benchmarking including regular interaction with second line stakeholders, monitoring external developments and embedding these to ensure GIA\xe2\x80\x99s risk reporting is effective and accurate.

Business

As the function continues to deliver against its strategy, the risks facing GIA will change \xe2\x80\x93 we need to horizon scan effectively as well as ensure that we are managing the risks of today effectively.

In addition, the role holder will be expected to maintain an awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates; this individual will build and maintain strong relationships with second line stakeholders as well as internally within GIA.

Working as part of a team, the role holder will be expected to effectively support GIA\xe2\x80\x99s ongoing co-source relationships, ensuring that good value is obtained and required reporting is delivered on time and accurately.

Processes

  • Manage the co-source engagement process which requires strong vendor management skills to ensure all invoices are processed accurately and on time. In addition, the role holder will support the Head, People and Governance to ensure GIA is getting optimal value from its co-source engagements.
  • Communicate key changes required to GIA\xe2\x80\x99s management of its own risks, in line with the Group\xe2\x80\x99s approach for Functions. Support reporting as required using the Group\xe2\x80\x99s tools as well as regular reporting to the GIA COO and Audit Executive Team (AET).
People and Talent
  • Support delivery of training relating to co-source usage and GIA\xe2\x80\x99s risks for new joiners and existing staff.
  • Support the wider team to effectively manage queries from external bodies on GIA\xe2\x80\x99s risk management approach.
Risk Management
  • Support the Head of People and Governance in maintaining a rigorous risk management framework for the function. This will include reporting and advising on areas of key risk to GIA - it will require experience of managing risks in a business or functional unit as well as a strong ability to communicate effectively on these topics.
Governance

The role holder will be fundamental to the effective use of co-source resources to deliver GIA\xe2\x80\x99s Audit Plan; this requires the ability to reconcile data and report clearly on performance.

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Exercise authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and act in accordance with Articles of Association.

Other Responsibilities

As part of the wider GIA COO team, the role holder will be expected to support the delivery of the function\xe2\x80\x99s priorities with ad hoc project work as required.
