Legal Manager FMCG

Our client is a leading Consumer multinational looking out for a Legal Manager based out of Chicago, USA to lead their legal function for North America business.

Responsibilities:

- You as the legal manager will be the legal coordinator and officer for the organization with general charge of coordinating all legal matters pertaining to the company. You will have oversight of the legal department and is the liaison with management in coordination of all legal issues affecting the organization.

- Help develop the legal strategy and arrange counsel to manage litigation. Advise on the legal implications of business decisions.

- Help manage and coordinate the legal function responsibilities including, but not limited to, corporate governance, regulatory and contractual compliance, retained and ad-hoc outside counsels, self-insured retentions in the product liability area, including claim adjustments, insurance matters as appropriate, risk management, litigation, intellectual property, export controls and third-party relationships, as needed.

- Oversee and coordinate contracts in drafting, negotiating and overseeing commercial, and international contracts; oversee compliance with contracts and ensure follow-through to resolution; analyze and obtain advise on requests for deviations from contract specifications; proactively strive to help protect the company\'s legal interests and coordinate the functioning of the operations within the scope of established law and the scope of the contracts.

- Coordinate advise for the management of contractual rights and obligations and means to mitigate contractual risks. Keep abreast of statutory, legislative, and regulatory developments.

- Ensure legal protection of intellectual property is in place and obtain legal consultation in establishment of strategic organizational partnerships.

- Must be experienced in intellectual property rights and the process of registration of IP, oppositions, cancellations etc.

- Manage immigration matters by coordinating use of outside counsels and internal stakeholders to perform visa filing and renewals; prepare letters of invitation and respond to immigration inquiries. Handle multinational legal filings and compliance issues using appropriate outside counsels,

- Manage and coordinate miscellaneous legal issues as they arise (real estate property leases, contracts, general tax matters etc.

- Must be experienced in dealing with product liability cases and class action suits and should be able to develop strategies in defending product liability claims, class action suits/ MDL suits.

- You Must have minimum 6+ years of experience in leading the legal function of a mid-size organisation.

- Must have experience in FMCG/Consumer/Electronics and alike industries.
