Your field of responsibility

Join us as a member of the APAC Legal Data Protection team to work with a team of data protection and client confidentiality lawyers. Your primary role will be to deliver high-quality services to stakeholders across the Bank in a dynamic environment and advise on data management matters in relation to strategic projects, transactions and procurement contracts that involve access to, or the transfer of, customer, personal or third-party proprietary data across national borders in line with applicable APAC laws, regulations, and Credit Suisse policies. The scope of responsibilities includes close collaboration with other APAC Legal Data Protection team members, providing strategic advice and recommendations to stakeholders as well as promoting awareness of the applicable client confidentiality, data protection/privacy regulatory standards, upstreaming risks and practices across the business and the support functions. You may need to support in drafting privacy statements, data protection clauses, data processing consents, negotiating data processing agreements and conducting training. The role also involves ad hoc projects and strategic data protection projects (e.g. implementation of new data protection laws in the Bank) that may involve close collaboration with the Bank’s Data Privacy & Records team, as well as colleagues from Compliance, General Counsel and other departments.

Legal Data Protection, APAC team is part of the global Legal Data Protection organization which sits within the General Counsel function. The team is based in Hong Kong, Singapore and Wroclaw, Poland and currently consists of three permanent data protection lawyers. You will report to the team leader who is based in Hong Kong. Although we work individually on our projects and are based in various locations, we regularly support each other and have brainstorming sessions during the week, having plenty of opportunities to exchange ideas, learn and grow with the team. This position offers remote working opportunities for an agreed amount of days per week. Your skills and experience
To excel in this role, you should possess the following:

  • University Degree in Law is essential
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal work experience of working in a financial institution or a law firm which is oriented internationally in the data management field (preferable)
  • Sound legal background and knowledge regarding APAC data protection and banking secrecy laws
  • Outstanding legal, analytical and problem solving skills and exercise of judgment with high ethical and control standards
  • Stakeholder-management skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiasm, initiative, diligence and the capacity for hard work on own initiative and deliver on time with a high level of integrity, sense of urgency and quality standards
  • A strong drive to carry projects and matters through to successful completion with internal clients and stakeholders and being a true team-player who likes to share knowledge and has a willingness to learn
