The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance. Materials and Processes Engineering Department fromGEPower Gas turbine Engineering COE, Bangalore, India is seeking a Lead Engineer for Material Analysis & characterization of gas turbine components materials. The engineer will also have responsibility to analyze any prematurely failed samples, generate reports and lead the Oxidation and hot corrosion lab operations to produce the quality data. Essential Responsibilities Conduct material analysis on materials used in gas turbines (steels and nickel-base alloys) Develop and follow processes to understand material behavior by characterizing different phases, not limited to, gamma prime, carbides, different precipitates Understand and generate reports on failures by analyzing the fracture surface of failed components lead the Oxidation lab operations and expand the facility testing capability Reach out to global stake holders to understand the needs of potential programs for which the labs can be utilized Leading the projects and effective project management. Help and provide necessary support to team member in resolving technical issues / problems during Projects/test execution. Manage & Lead the lab team (GAT\'s & Contractors) and ensure the data quality and lab safety Work with the technical leader and manager in the technical growth of the team Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments to the project leads Work effectively within cross-functional engineering and global Research teams Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with MPE policies and procedures. Maintain the quality plan for the lab according to ISO 17025 Drive MPE product cost savings ideas Drive Lean Culture in Lab Qualifications/Requirements M.S/M.Tech in materials science and engineering with emphasis on material characterization and analysis 5 years of technical experience in relevant field Experience with setting up and using material characterization tools and equipment\'s such as optical microscope, digital microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope, XRD Experience in sample preparation for material analysis such as cutting, mounting, polishing Experience with using hardness and micro-hardness testers Excellent knowledge on physical metallurgy and mechanical behavior of steels and ni-based alloys Excellent presentation and communication skills Knowledge of ISO 17025 standard Knowledge / certification on OSHA guidelines and EHS regulations Desired Characteristics PhD in materials science with specialization related to characterization of steels and nickel base alloys Excellent Experience in set up and maintenance of material characterization equipment\'s Experience in materials modeling based on physics of mechanical behavior and mechanical testing data About Us GE is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
