Job Description


Summary Materials and Processes Engineering Department from GE Power Engineering division, India is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer with specialization in metallurgical processes including casting and forgings. The major responsibility of this Senior engineer is supplier qualifications in and around India regions to support the IEO BCC mission also role will support the RCA\'s and other MPE programs. Roles and Responsibilities Qualify BCC (best cost country) casting and forging suppliers for GT components, while working with Supplier quality engineers and Engineering Design teams. Audit, assess and approve existing and potential local suppliers for GT components (mostly castings & forgings) by evaluating their procedures Develop new suppliers in the country (BCC) to manufacture GT components(sand castings and investment castings) Improve suppliers\' manufacturing processes and give recommendations when required Perform modeling on castings and evaluate and improve the GE specifications related to casting Train and mentor young GE engineers in team in supplier qualifications Extensive travel is required to supplier locations Conduct failure/material analysis on components used in gas turbines (steels and nickel-base alloys) Required Qualifications M.Tech/M.S. in materials science and engineering with emphasis on metallurgical manufacturing processes 10 to 15 years of industrial experience in working on supplier qualifications (castings/forgings) Experience in working on casting simulations Experience in analyzing material defects including porosity, welding defects, etc.. Experience in failure analysis of components Experience in analyzing microstructures using material characterization tools and equipment such as optical microscope, digital microscope and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Experience with using hardness and micro-hardness testers Excellent presentation and communication skills Exposure of additive materials & Material corrosion studies Desired Characteristics Excellent knowledge on physical metallurgy and mechanical behavior of steels and ni-based alloys Experience in working on investment castings Experience in additive manufacturing Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills while handling multiple projects.
