Lead - Business Technology Manager

POSITION PURPOSE:

Bayer is German multinational company working in the pharmaceutical, consumer health, and crop science domains. This role will be a part of Bayer Data Science & AI strategic business unit under Bayer R&D Pharmaceuticals. As a Lead- Business Technology Manager, the candidate is expected to have a 50:50 split between managing the existing applications and working on new initiatives.

YOUR TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business As Usual (BAU) (50% of Key Responsibility Area)

The candidate is expected to manage one or more applications that are already being used by the business stakeholders. Management of these applications involves managing the change lifecycle i.e.:

Manage Pharma R&D Applications

• Liaise/coordinate with business stakeholders to understand new requirements.
• Owner of portfolio backlog and roadmap execution
• Collaborate with technical teams to assess complexity, and dependencies.
• Estimate timelines for implementation and obtain necessary approvals.
• Track the progress of the project and send regular updates to stakeholders including any risks and issues.
• Coordinate with the business stakeholders to document and execute user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Coordinate with IT teams to document and execute system testing.
• Author documents like Change Request, User Requirement Specifications, Process Flows, Risk Assessment, GxP assessment, Change Report, Validation Report etc.
• Effective action on feedback received during retro meetings
• Identify potential issues and pro-actively develops mitigation plans

New Initiatives (50% of Key Responsibility Area)

The candidate is expected to identify new initiatives to transform how the business operates. This could be through technological and/or process improvements. The candidate is expected to:

• Understand the existing process/setup, identify gaps, and come up with potential fit for purpose solutions.
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
• Analyze and understand business needs, priorities & challenges and help formulate opportunities for enhancements, improvements, and exploitation.
• Prepare a business case for each of the solutions and present the same to the relevant stakeholders.
• Prepare a roll out plan for the implementation and coordinate with the relevant teams for execution.
• Monitor the critical success factors for the agreed duration and present a closure report to the stakeholders.
• Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize business process efficiency and quality
• Participate in design discussions and partner with key stakeholders in documenting and developing potential solutions to the business problems
• Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
• Extensive coordination and collaboration for gathering requirements and technical details with key stakeholder across different teams
• Clearly articulate product vision, strategy, and roadmap to the management team effectively as and when needed

WHO YOU ARE:

• 10 to 12 years of experience in Computer Science, Information Management or other relevant field.
• Proven working experience as a Product owner, Process Manager or Business Analyst.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to clearly articulate solution alternatives
• Strong work prioritization, planning, and organizational skills
• Possess leadership qualities including being proactive, thoughtful, thorough, decisive, and flexible, always conducting themselves professionally and with integrity

• Effective listener, speaker, reader and writer - able to bridge business and technical domains, promote best practices, and enforce good governance within challenging timelines
• Ability to challenge status-quo through identification of key business requirements and addressing through innovative data-driven solutions.
• Ability to work in fast paced and dynamic environment.
• Strong ability to take ownership and run stakeholder meetings or workshops

• 10+ Years of Experience working with SDLC life cycle.
• Experience in working with tools like MS Visio, MS Project, JIRA,Confluence, MindManager etc.
• Exposure to relational Database technologies like MS SQL/PL SQL.
• Exposure on DevOps on cloud solution in Azure/AWS/GCP
• Seasoned in project management and service management, with an understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies like waterfall, agile etc.
• Adept in assessments, requirements gathering, detailed business use case documentation - Business Requirements Document, Solution Design Document, Process Flow Diagrams, Scope and Estimation, Application Overview Documents etc.
• Should have led 2 or more digital transformation initiatives.
• Preferred experience in AI/ML projects.
• Exposure to life sciences industry.
• Exposure to Computerized system validation (CSV)
• Good knowledge and experience with reporting packages (Tableau, Business Objects etc.) and databases (SQL etc.).
• Exposure in multiple an multiple statistical tool i.e. SAS, R, SPSS,Python
