Job Description


Responsibilities To initiate proactive & predictive measures to contain hazards & risks to \'Acceptable Level of Safety\'. Provide timely inputs to VP Aviation Safety on safety related matters. Monitor safety concerns in the aviation industry and their perceived impact on the organization\'s operations aimed at service delivery. Ensure compliance to safety standards as per applicable norms (DGCA CAR, ADAC etc.). Establish and maintain a safety management system including arrangements for identifying, reporting, tracking and correcting safety issues and for initiation of preventive action where necessary. Be the focal point for all safety related activities of AAHL airports, by instituting methods to identify hazards to air safety, conduct risk assessments & suggest risk mitigating measures. Effective SMS implementation and procedure to track performance of all GHA/ self-handlers. Review of the safety management system to evaluate its effectiveness and ensuring that improvements are made where required. Continuous improvement of SMS. Re-look at all documents based on new infra across all AAHL airports. Provide inputs on potential improvements to safety performance. Review compliance with safety management policies, plans, systems, procedures, regulatory arrangements, and standards; ensure safety issues are reported in a timely manner. Ensure that the Safety Mangers respond efficiently to the safety needs of Airlines, GHAs, Concessionaires, DGCA etc. Carry out trend analysis, based on Monthly, Quarterly & Annual safety reports. Update VP Aviation Safety on the Safety trends. Ensure and activate all safety committees viz. Runway Safety Team, Safety Action Group, Airfield Environmental Management committees etc. Standardise and oversee Runway and Apron Safety Management including inspections. Conduct Gap analysis on Safety issues as per ICAO Doc 9859/DGCA CAR. Institute measures for effective Airside Driver, Vehicle and Equipment Management. Implement measures to reduce Foreign Object Damage/Debris (FOD) including Tool control & Management. Coordinate & assist all airside teams in standardisation of various SOPs, Orders, Instructions, and related documents. Monitor aviation safety performance of the company. Design, develop, and manage an effective audit program towards safe operations at all AAHL airports. Ensure that the Safety Managers and other Aviation Safety professionals are trained, qualified and competent to discharge their safety related obligations. Undertake inhouse competency development and create a pool of trained safety auditors, investigators, and trainers within the company. Follow up & monitor project issues relevant to Av Safety, airfield maintenance activities and facilitate operationalisation on completion of projects. Provide inputs for Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment for new facilities with respect to Compliance & Quality Ensure the airports conduct periodic risk assessment & effectively maintain a hazard library. Eliminate potential hazards and give suitable recommendations to create a safe Airport environment for airport staff, contractors / business partners and concessionaires involving all internal & external stake holders. Ensure regulatory compliance & assurance of all airside systems & processes as per DGCA guidelines. Monitor & ensure conduct of Turnaround audits, Speed checks and Alcometer checks. Ensure mandatory operational safety competencies of Airport staff as per DGCA circulars including competency mapping for new staff and re-certification & knowledge refreshing for existing staff. Interact with key government stakeholders on regular basis as well as other AAI airports, private airports, DGCA and AAI officials at CHQ Delhi. Coordinate and plan Safety promotional events, campaigns, workshops, and awareness sessions for all AAHL airports. Periodically review Airside Safety Regulations, SMS Manual & Safety SOPs & ensure all other SOPs/Manuals are dovetailed/integrated with the required safety inputs. Ensure effective functioning of \'Aerodrome Obstruction Monitoring committee\' as per DGCA guidelines. Lead the Automation/ Digitisation of Safety Management Systems for enhanced workflow, e-learning for regulatory and competency training, real time safety dashboard, safety reporting and other safety related functions such as accident/ incident reporting, voluntary reporting, hazard library, documentation, employee database etc. Prepare contents for ELMS in coordination with other stakeholders and function as a SPOC for all aspects of ELMS/ SMS application.
