Purpose/Key Objectives of the Job

Digital activities have been started in several domains within ISC. A new organization has been set up covering all digital and data activities for ISC (Integrated Supply Chain) and his under construction. MES Lite solution is one of the key solutions of the Digital portfolio under deployment globally. The Digital MES Lead is a key role in Digital ISC organization that will support the scaling of the solution globally in each region. The position holder will be ensuring coaching of the regions and that a deployment methodology is defined, documented and in place to secure CAPEX associated to MES in each region.
Objective is to leverage MES in the regions to support the business vision by improving productivity and optimizing processes. Benefits of MES and other digital solutions for AkzoNobel are expected to contribute in priority to Focus2 efforts in 2023 and, in parallel, help us build strong foundations to be ready to accelerate in 2024 and 2025 to become one of the leading digital Integrated Supply chain organizations in our industry.

The Digital MES Lead is supporting overall deployment and projects execution globally with the following responsibilities:

  • Join the sites steering committees and key routine to support and coach local team on overall methodology and approach
  • Provide MES expertise ad-hoc especially during design phase to secure right design in collaboration with local teams and other key stakeholders in regions, IT or relevant functions.
  • Own MES methodology ensuring alignment with internal RANGERS methodology defining projects steps, deliverables and template to use on projects.
  • Review and support sites to build CAPEX performing review of the savings committed after projects are delivered
  • Ensure compliance to template defined for Production, Quality, Powder and any other new template making the link to Digital Manager or relevant product owner when required to review/challenge/approve change requests
  • Support regions and sites on project kick off and starting phase ensuring training and knowledge of the methodology
  • Join Gap and fit as well as specific workshops when required to secure relevant design of the solution
  • Maintain costs/business case calculator in alignment with vendor
  • Manage and maintain governance associated with MES program
  • In the Digital central team, the team is accountable of Design and support. The role is covering ownership of overall MES governance supporting regions to take ownership of deploying and executing MES projects. It is a combination of program manager role for MES, and technical expert role to coach and advice regions/sites.It requires to mobilize and steer internal and external capabilities, following a value driven approach.
Responsibilities
  • Governance leadership and management:
  • Ensure routine are defined and in place to monitor overall MES program deployment and sites execution.
  • Develop and maintain overall RACI for the MES activities between central digital team, regions, sites and other parties such as vendors, integrators and IT teams.
  • Ensure template management in alignment with Digital Manager to minimize change request and ensure solution template is fit for purpose for all site progressively covered in the roll out
  • Ensure management of technical routine and architecture discussions
  • Program management
  • Consolidate and monitor overall regional roadmaps
  • Define and ensure application of MES Methodology in alignment with ISC RANGER methodology that will include projects steps, milestones, deliverables and template associated.
  • Support especially design phase to secure right parties are mobilized in projects started and local team are staffed according to guidelines
  • Review CAPEX files prepared by plants (overall budget of 3-7 Millions euros CAPEX per year globally)
  • Maintain costs calculators and benefits calculator to facilitate sites CAPEX preparation
  • Manage relationship with vendor to ensure monitoring of activities
  • Define versioning strategy for future solution evolution
  • MES expertise
  • Provide expertise on MES deployment and execution
  • Provide knowledge and support plants to understand scope of the templates available centrally as well as standard interfaces associated
  • Support design phase to review designs proposed
  • Join when required Gap and fit sessions or other relevant workshops linked to solution design
  • Own and monitor technologies/architecture discussions for example on cloud approach or interface at specific levels
  • Ensure training availability and support definition/design/delivery of specific ones
  • Additional responsibilities:
  • Support project managers in charge of further global deployment of domain solutions
  • Shape further communication and change management opportunities (Yammer, webinars, events, etc.)
  • Contribute to the development of the Digital and Automation strategy within ISC
  • Lead specific initiative within ISC when required to drive value or continuous improvement
Job Requirements
  • Around 5-7 years of experience in Digital / Technology / IT, including consulting experience and proven leadership skills
  • At least 3 years\' experience in Deployment of Manufacturing Execution Systems with demonstrated ability to drive design/technical discussions ideally on Parsec solution
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a strong track record of shaping new initiatives / domains, and delivering value
  • Excellent domain knowledge of Manufacturing, Logistics and Supply chain
  • Strong technical judgment and results oriented
  • \xe2\x80\x9cCan do\xe2\x80\x9d and proactive attitude, ability to work independently and define and develop own targets, structure activities and coach/mentor others
  • Ability to drive change and navigate ambiguity when support local implementation in a corporate environment
  • Hands on profile that can move from strategic level to daily execution
  • Ability to challenge established practices and processes when required
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Appetite for digital opportunities: Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Industry 4.0, advanced analytics, digital twins, big data, etc.
  • Expertise in agile methodologies and processes / DevOps
  • Degree, preferably Master, within Business Administration / Engineering / Computer Science
  • Ability to travel on occasion (up to 20-25%)
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
