Team/Function Overview:

Compliance Technology is building a sophisticated next generation surveillance solution on top of a distributed data platform. The Belfast team is the global Centre for the creation of feature-based surveillance algorithms using cutting edge technologies and techniques.

The volume and variety of data involved in these surveillances and the complexity of the algorithms results in one of most challenging and appropriate use cases for big data technologies.

Job Background/Context:

  • The position is based in Belfast reporting to the Senior Integration Engineer (Release and Infrastructure)
  • The position in individual contributor role will work in Matrix organization setup across Total Conduct (TC) application development teams releases
  • As part of a large, geographically distributed team(s), this role will work with the stakeholders across multiple functional areas
  • The position requires strong interpersonal, communication & analytical skills to engage, negotiate & prioritize the actions during the complex & multi-faced situations to pursue the best outcome possible for TC application development teams & organization
Key Responsibilities:
  • Understand release & change management & implementation standards, tools & processes set by the sector / DevOps technology to further implement into Total Conduct
  • Lead Release Implementation planning for Total Conduct technology globally - Implementation plans, runbooks which integrates all product deployment, file extension, data conversion, technology stack upgrades etc.
  • As the one of the leads of the release implementation team, to lead/oversee the planning and execution of daily / weekly/ monthly / major releases for TC along with applications technology teams
  • Lead In-Depth Release Implementation reviews with application development teams to understand the purpose of their deployment activities and the application & infrastructure dependencies involved, BAU functionalities/downtime impact and to align and fit these activities into the overall deployment execution plan.
  • Lead Safety and Soundness/End of Vendor Support initiatives, governance, release Implementation planning and execution covering in-depth end-to-end review, exit criteria, deployment impact, downtime review, country specific regulatory implication, customer experience on channel and post- implementation sanity checkout as needed
  • Identify and manage Risks, establish Mitigation plan to avoid/mitigate any issues having impact on the release scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Improve the release & deployment processes to achieve 1-click deployment by building CI/CD pipelines using required tool chain
  • Communicate and socialize all crucial highlights of the release implementation plan, downtime requirements, scheduled outages as well as key incremental updates with required teams globally
  • Oversee the coordination, execution and tracking of the entire TC release within the communicated Release Implementation deployment window
  • Timely and comprehensive milestone reporting of release overall implementation status on actual cutover day through consolidation of critical inputs from various stakeholders
  • Generation as well as on time escalation for release deployment issues to the appropriate management team
  • Oversee the management of post release implementation deployment retrospectives, categorization, cause-effect analysis and the tracking of the retrospectives to closure to ensure similar issues are not repeated for subsequent release implementations
  • Coaching the team / members for various implementation team roles and responsibilities to build up the implementation team's core competencies and redundancies
Skills Required
  • Experience as Release & Change Management / Engineer in large cross-functional technology teams across various applications releases by ensuring required dependencies management
  • Strong experience in building CI/CD pipelines using tool chain - Git/BitBucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, uDeploy
  • Strong understanding of JIRA (dashboards, releases/FixVersions, navigating through Epics-Stories-Tasks etc.) to track & manage various releases
  • Strong understanding of change management tool (ServiceNow) to traverse through different stages of Releases
  • Experience in managing large scale releases implementation as SAFe RTE (Release Train Engineer)
  • Excellent in engaging with various tech & business stakeholders at varied levels to align them towards common objectives
  • Excellent in managing & mitigating the risks, issues, dependencies, and assumptions throughout the various stages of programs & projects
  • Possess strong written and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders, leadership, and contributors, with a mix of diplomacy and assertiveness
  • Strong collaboration and negotiation skills to work across various teams globally
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze & resolve issues
  • Ability to take on the work with minimum guidance and lead as own initiatives
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities
  • Flexible and adaptable
Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree (in science, computers, information technology or engineering)
  • 6+ years of total experience in large IT organizations preferably in financial services industry
  • 4+ years of experience as Release or Change Manager or Engineer
  • Preferred professional certifications: Release Train Engineer, Any other release or change management related, Any other DevOps related
