Health & Safety- KEP Description Actively promotes health, safety and environmental awareness and applies technical expertise in the design, implementation and management of health, safety and environmental engineering controls within the site(s). Provides technical support cross-functionally to ensure compliance with Cummins internal requirements, applicable health, safety and environmental regulations and industry standards. Actively demonstrates safety awareness and promotes a positive health, safety and environmental culture coaching others to do the same. Ensures employees are consulted and given the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures. Works cross-functionally, providing technical expertise, to improve hazard prevention and risk control measures, non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions, driving continual improvement within the site(s). Contributes to daily health, safety and environmental operations within the site(s) providing support to solve complex technical issues. Leads hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs to identify risk improvement opportunities and gaps in health, safety and environmental compliance obligations. Drives targets and objectives for the design, implementation and maintenance of complex hazard prevention and control systems to reduce or eliminate potential risk. Develops and leads training, skills development and internal communications related to hazard prevention and control for employees within the site(s). Leads development of technical content ensuring it is up to date, controlled and available while adhering to data privacy regulations. Evaluates and interprets site health, safety and environmental data, legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to develop improvement plans using a risk-based, data driven approach. Contributes to site(s) Health, Safety, Environmental Management Systems review annually in conformance with Cummins internal requirements. Participates in site audit preparation and formal audit processes. Coaches and develops cross-functional teams and/or direct reports based on stakeholder feedback, and observations. Actively seeks opportunities for self-development through professional health, safety and environmental organizations, as a champion of emerging trends. Health, Safety and Environment Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis - Examines HSE incidents by completing quality, evidence based investigations with accurate root cause analysis, resulting in effective corrective actions, accurate reporting and avoiding repeated incidents. Manages conflict - Handling conflict situations effectively, with a minimum of noise. Implementation of Risk Controls - Selects and implements risk control methods by utilizing the hierarchy of controls to implement sustainable control measures in order to protect people by reducing overall risks to as low as reasonably practicable. Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems - Interprets and applies international standards through practical application within the operating environment to achieve and maintain an effective management system and external certification. Management of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulatory Compliance - Identifies, interprets and manages legal and other requirements by implementing controls, monitoring and reporting on operational performance to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental related regulations and standards. Optimizes work processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement. Measurement and Evaluation of Health, Safety and Environment Performance - Collects and analyzes data by creating key performance indicators to evaluate performance trends, deliver improvement goals and objectives, inform strategy and protect employees and the environment. Drives engagement - Creating a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives. Courage - Stepping up to address difficult issues, saying what needs to be said. Education, Licenses, Certifications College, university, or equivalent degree required. Health, Safety and/or Environmental degree preferred. Progress toward Certified Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH or similar certification preferred. Experience Intermediate level of experience required, including experience in application of Industrial Safety standards and implementation of risk controls. 3-5 years of experience, with minimal management experience. This position is plant based and would be completely responsible for developing Risk based HSE Strategies to drive across all functions to achieve the plant HSE KPIs while we strive to achieve the HSE Excellence. Need to design and dissipate the various HSE Surveillance programs to ensure the sustenance of the existing HSE systems and processes. Contractor safety Management and ongoing timely compliances. Ensuring HSE trainings and skill development with the high risk based employees Keeping the EPRP Process up to dated and conduct periodical mock drill to check the emergency equipments healthiness, ERT response and employee awareness. Work with all supportive functions to maintain the positive HSE Culture. Attend CFTs driven HSE initiatives and provide guidance to the teams of operations, maintenance and projects.
