POSITION SUMMARY: This role is responsible for managing complete customer programs, both small and large-scale including consortiums. It will require building relationships across many facets of a customer\xe2\x80\x99s organisation, including finance, procurement, implementation and operations. A Project Manager works directly with customers facilitating communication and translating operational requirements for the complete life cycle of the operation, from pre contract. Project Manager in Ciena may be responsible for multiple customer accounts/projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct formal initiation of new programs and projects to ensure all relevant stakeholders within Ciena and the customer understand and take ownership for the deliverables required by the agreed commercial terms.
• Identify activity and resources requirements to develop project plans & schedules to meet deliverable requirements (specification, time, cost and quality).
• Establish and maintain risk, issue and change control regimes.
• Work with functional groups to develop field work packages, for new network builds or upgrades.
• Coordinate and track field activity through the implementation of the work package. Field deployment may utilize direct or subcontract labor.
• Facilitate frequent review meetings between relevant customer operational groups and corporate groups.
• Document and communicate customer needs, project status, exceptions and resolutions.
• Coordinate and oversee the deployments with various deployments managers across the region and beyond Asia, at times.
• Directly communicate with the end customer for site access requests, project reporting, resolution of issues and provisional acceptance sign-off etc.
• Close projects to satisfactorily meet customer deliverables and Ciena fiscal requirements.
• Lead review of lessons learned to foster a culture for continual improvement
• Review technical SOW\xe2\x80\x99s as developed by the SE\xe2\x80\x99s as appropriate to the customers\xe2\x80\x99 needs and project requirements.
• Provide a key technical interface to the customer and the Director- Global Submarine and International Programs, in a direct interface and reporting capacity.
• Raising of PO\xe2\x80\x99s on suppliers / vendors and following up on orders placed, including logistics interfacing, will be required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Driving the required internal operational tools that Ciena uses on a day to day basis, such as PSA, CPQ, CPODs, Oracle etc.

• Strong communication skills: written and in formal presentations, including required reporting to management within Ciena as may be required.
• Project management skills in keeping projects on schedule and assuring all relevant parties are informed on progress or issues.
• Demonstrated skills in desktop applications such as MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project planning software.
• Acquire the additional competencies if not already available, to competently manage the Ciena specific operational tools such CPQ, PSA, CPODs, Oracle etc. Prior experience on any of these will be a plus.
• Negotiation skills essential.
• Multitasking: able to manage many aspects of the account(s) simultaneously.
• Strong technical competencies to facilitate in depth discussions with customers regarding Ciena\xe2\x80\x99s product portfolio and solution as deployed.

• Min 5 years relevant industry experience
• Solid industry experience or equivalent in the areas of telecoms engineering, project management, and customer service.
• B.Tech Telecommunications , engineering, business or related fields preferred.
• Formal accreditation in program or project management preferred e.g. PMP, Prince2 or equivalent.
• Sound knowledge of DWDM technologies a must, SLTE knowledge preferred.
