The Applications Development Intermediate Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities. We are looking to bring in a Senior Ab Initio ETL Developer in the FDAR team under GFT - Enterprise Operations and Technology. The Candidate is required to possess relevant design and development experience in building complex database solutions, application programming and should be a strong team player. Exposure to Finance domain - the Finance Books and Records is preferred. This is a significant opportunity for an experienced developer with experience in modern data platforms to move into a role working with a variety of development teams, including close collaboration with finance close and Governance team. To be successful in this role, you will need to have proven experience in development of solutions/platforms for banking/finance environment. It is expected that you will have superior technical knowledge of current programming languages, technologies, and other leading edge development tools Job Background: GFT PC&A FDAR team is built to Design, Develop, and Implement automated financial books and records capabilities to support daily, monthly close processes by designing, building validating, and implementing technology solutions to support required workflows, dashboard reporting, analytics for effective tracking and oversight of daily and monthly close cycles. We are looking for a Sr. Abinitio Developer/Lead (India, Pune) to join this team of diverse and supportive professionals. The main tasks will be to design, build, and deploy an end-to-end solution to address finance, accounting, ledger, and close needs that could be leveraged by multiple applications under GFT Data Services. Responsibilities:
  • Develop Ab Initio based high throughput data intensive applications to serve function of data integration, data consumption and data generation.

  • Requirement analysis including interaction with Business Users.

  • Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint.

  • Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts, and basic knowledge of other technical areas to identify and define necessary system enhancements, including using script tools and analyzing/interpreting code.

  • Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, and recommend programming solutions, install, and support customer exposure systems.

  • Apply fundamental knowledge of programming languages for design specifications.

  • Analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, as well as conduct testing and debugging.

  • Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts.

  • Perform Unit Testing, System Testing for all applications developed / enhancements and ensure that all critical and high-severity bugs are addressed.

  • Engage in end-to-end system design and development processes.

  • As and when required, work on BAU development requests.

  • Partners with multiple Technology teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals; identifies and defines necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process enhancements.

  • Solves / works a variety of high impact, high-profile problems / projects with considerable business impact through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes and industry standards.

  • Provides expertise in area and an advanced level of understanding of the principles of applications programming.

  • Develops standards for coding, testing, debugging and implementation.

  • Providing expertise in technical analysis and solving technical issues during project delivery.

  • Responsible for applications systems analysis and programming activities.

  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:
  • Hands on development experience of at least 5-8 years on Ab Initio using batch graphs, continuous graphs, plans, PDLs, meta programming etc.
  • 5+ ETL Development (Ab-Initio)
  • 5+ Relational Database SQL (Oracle) experience
  • 3+ Strong Unix Scripting experience.
  • Knowledge of scheduling tool like Autosys / Control-M / TWS / Ab Initio Control Centre.
  • Highest acumen in data analysis and understanding complex data structures. Comfortable working with large data volumes and be able to demonstrate a firm understanding of logical data structures and analysis techniques.
  • Familiar with the financial services industry and/or regulatory environments
  • Capable of assisting with the design of solutions and mentoring other developers within the same team.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work as part of team and independently.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with team members and business stakeholders
Good To Have Skills:
  • Some knowledge on CI/CD tools.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies like HDFS, Hive, NoSQL DBs and experience of data ingestion and extraction using Ab Initio.
  • Exposure on Cloud technologies
  • Prior experience of Snowflake database.
  • Knowledge of Ab Initio QueryIT, BRE, ACE and Control centre.
  • Good exposure to various Database technologies (Oracle/Netezza/Teradata/DB2 etc)
