Job Description

Job Family Descriptor Monitor large computer networks and servers for problems from a central location They analyze problems perform troubleshooting and incident response on the system communicate with site technicians and track problems through to resolution
Create and maintain infrastructure necessary for the growth and upkeep of field and network operations to drive network efficiency and availability
Ensure necessary coordination on certification field level testing Coordinate with the technical teams for new enhancementsissue resolution
Set up configurations number of fibre pairs in the cable capacity landing stations Manage the complete capacity distribution and traffic activation on the cable system
Track and monitor the environment performance to ensure minimal interruption to network transmission andor network switches
Lead drive and monitor all maintenance and cost savings activities related to facilities including facility maintenance and thereby ensuring sufficient focus on optimizing cost of facility infrastructure while maintaining reliability both in terms of operations and capital investments
Manage marine cables network equipment maintenance international real estate management security operations for all sites and network ensuring adequate support for maintenance of international facilities and network at optimal costs ensuring sufficient focus on optimizing cost of facility infrastructure while maintaining reliability both in terms of operations and capital investments Broad outline of the Role Purpose - Broad objective of the role Lead and drive field operations activities across all sites in regions including annual budgeting escalation management technical resource for service delivery and service assurance equipment management and vendor support for network operations Operating Network - Key External Vendors Service providers Customers Operating Network - Key Internal GFIM Other teams in BU Product and engineering teams Size and Scope of Role - Financial Operating Budget for NA APAC Regions Size and Scope of Role - No. of direct reports 9 Size and Scope of Role - Total team size 21 Size and Scope of Role - Other size parameters No of Sites Staffed 25 Americas APAC Unstaffed 157 Americas APAC Minimum qualification & experience Telecom engineering graduate preferably management degree with 15 20 years of experience Other knowledge/skills Financial customer focus leadership take on challenges of adapting to change and cost saving or generating initiatives Experienced at remotely managing personnel attention to detail diligence in following through on tasks ability to build new talent underneath a focus on profit can translate ideas into reality ability to turn diversity into synergy ability to energize others assumes full responsibility of his own and teams success and opportunities for improvements Key Responsibilities 1 Field Operations Monitor field operation activities performed across all regions sites including aspects of maintaining continuity of service service delivery and new equipment installation Provide guidance to site regional managers on prioritising operations and service assurance issues Review escalations database of all regions and share with NOC and service delivery teams or Finance teams for invoice payment etc Track progress of teams of operational targets Based on performance issues and repeat escalations re align resources within team and interact with heads of CFTs for issue resolution Performance Metrics No of escalations Response time for continuity of service Adherence to timelines for service delivery Availability of spares for continuity of service 2 Budget Planning and Reviews Prepare region wise annual business plans budgets savings target and resource plans Conduct monthly review meetings with supervisors and peers to understand expected changes in work volume and make adjustments to plan maximize funds and minimize effects of unforeseen issues Regularly review expenditure on utilities and progress on savings tracker by each region site Discuss saving opportunities of minimizing utility power improving space usage equipment re grooming etc with team and plan for the same Review progress on cost reduction initiatives and showcase achievements to supervisor and other CFTs Performance Metrics Adherence to budgets Reduction in Opex Cost savings 3 Equipment Inventory Management Periodically review equipment database of each site for information completeness accuracy and monitor spare availability Track performance of sites on annual audits and discuss improvement plans as per audit observations and its implementation Performance Metrics Accuracy of database 4 Team Development Regularly review team structure and assess talent requirements Participate in the recruitment and selection process Conduct goal setting and performance review for the team Drive team development engagement and reward initiatives Coach and mentor team members as required and ensure resolution of any people issues Performance Metrics Team engagement age attrition Manpower cost and productivity 5 Process Improvements Conduct discussions with service delivery service assurance and other BUteams to improve CF OLA to drive quicker and efficient service delivery to customers Identify ways to improve performance on defined metrics through establishing or modifying existing processes systems and responsibilities that are shared between the teams Work with IT team to identify and resolve database related issues Work along with corporate security teams to ensure physical security of all sites and particularly high risk areas and resolve any audit observations related to site security Performance Metrics Improvement in process system and site efficiency Technical Competencies Knowledge / Skills Communication Skills
