Administer credit and financing assistance to dealers; ensure proper security documentation is maintained; effect timely administration of dealer receivables and loans; ensure that country risk limits are properly maintained to protect Company assets; provide effective analysis of confidential individual dealer financial situations including continuity planning and make improvement recommendations which contribute to financially sound and successful dealer operations. Manage significantly complex assignments/projects within a region and/or district. Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Dealer Financial Analysis/Financial Health:
  • Analyzes confidential financial reports and evaluates the financial strength in assigned region(s).
  • Along with the Finance Manager the incumbent assists dealers in short and long term financial planning, credit and collections, accounting, cash management etc.; reports financial trends, and problem areas affecting dealer performance and recommends solutions to the dealer, Region Finance, District and Region Managers.
  • The incumbent may also train, coach and mentor new Finance Reps and other members of the district/region and represent the Finance Manager during their absence.
  • Responsible for identifying process improvements/efficiencies within district/region offices.
Financial Merchandising:
  • Works with district personnel to develop and manage merchandising programs to enhance dealer sales to customers, introduce new products and improve dealer PINS.
  • Analyzes specific dealer sales transactions and recommend extend payment terms as warranted.
  • Administers finance-oriented programs for dealers and conducts audits of dealer inventory and controls as necessary.
Asset Management:
  • Manages and collects company receivables from loans and investments to dealers from Caterpillar.
  • Administers payment policy to dealers and minimize past dues.
  • Monitors portheld inventory.
  • Evaluates and recommends risk limits for each country to Finance Manager.
  • Assists dealers in confidential financial continuity planning to analyze the financial impact on the dealership when transitioned to new owner.
  • Also establishes and recommends the capital requirements and credit lines necessary when a dealer change is made.
  • Analyzes and evaluates proposals submitted by prospective dealer candidates and makes recommendations relative to acceptability.
  • Responsible for approving/monitoring country exposure and country risk for district and or region dealers.
  • Generally responsible for large, more complex dealership entities and/or more complex countries.
  • Assist dealers when dealer requires financial assistance beyond normal programs.
  • Designs and deploys marketing profit center (MPC) assistance to present to Senior Management. Such assistance packages may include loans, collateralization of exposure, recapitalization of the dealership, etc. (In a default scenario, this position may even assume the role of a receiver liquidator.)
  • Incumbent may also be involved in dealer M&A activities in relation to dealer growth.
Financial Institution Relationship:
  • Provides assistance to dealers in obtaining affordable financing and flexible credit line arrangements from financial institutions.
  • Analyzes existing lending agreements and participates in negotiations with the dealers and their lenders for mutually acceptable legal documentation to protect company assets.
Other Governance:
  • Monitors compliance to Dealer Finance Procedures, Sarbanes Oxley Act and Treasury Letters.
  • Incumbent is responsible to insure finance discussions made at the district level are made with an Enterprise view, and all strategic finance initiatives are given appropriate priority and resource commitment.
  • May include the review and negotiation of sales contracts and bids which are outside the scope of transactions governed by Sales and Service Agreements to ensure best protection of company interests and compliance with Legal, Tax and Commercial considerations.
  • Extensive travel is required.
Background/Experience:
  • Requires a Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or Accounting college degree with a strong preference for a Finance degree.
  • Six to eight years practical experience in financial management and corporate finance is desired.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required along with the ability to work with a diverse workforce within company and dealer management.
  • Strong financial analysis skills are required.
Position works with dealers on complex financial issues in multiple countries. Responsible for managing financial decisions involving currency fluctuations, changing political and social environments. Individual may live in the field and finance manager is traditionally off-site. Individual must be qualified to work in a stand-alone environment.
