Responsible for planning and execution of APAC Regional & India Medical Affairs strategies for assigned business franchises in India market
Field Medical Advisor (FMA) is a member of the Global Medical Affairs (GMA) team to serve as a strategic and scientific link between Alcon GMA and external Ophthal KOLs/HCPs
FMA strategically supports GMA organization through clinical data generation initiatives by providing guidance and coordination for Investigator initiated trials (IITs), Alcon initiated post-marketing trials (AITs) and plan Alcon\xe2\x80\x99s scientific share of voice (SoV) in APAC Regional/ India conferences, reputed journals etc.
Field medical advisor (FMA) is responsible for planning and execution of APAC Regional & India Medical Affairs strategies for assigned business franchises in India market
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible and accountable for the planning and execution of local clinical study/data generation activities (IITs/AITs) aligned with GMA, Alcon Surgical franchise in India
KOLs interactions, collection and reporting of consolidated professional insights that may impact Alcon\xe2\x80\x99s data generation plans, trial designs, share of voice strategies, new products launch strategies, tactics and medical education programs
Supporting IIT investigators and KOLs for clinical data dissemination, podium presentations across National and International/Global conferences
Ensures appropriate KOLs mapping/identification, review of scientific engagement and monthly reporting of activities
Represent in franchise specific and cross functional projects (Advisory Board)
Identify and execute opportunities for productivity and/or efficiency improvement by undergoing appropriate technical training
Identify National, Regional KOLs; develop peer-to-peer scientific relationships with KOLs and decision makers to expand scientific partnership opportunities
Collect, analyze, and report scientific and clinical insights that may guide brand development plans, launch and brand strategies/tactics. Develop a strong understanding of the future needs of ophthalmic KOLs and support medical education in alignment with franchise strategy.
Adding therapeutic area expertise to the medical team, and transfers knowledge within the organization and externally
Ensure cross-functional collaboration, interface effectively with all other Medical Affairs functions, as well as other departments, including business functions e.g. marketing, Commercial, QA, Research and Development, Regulatory Affairs etc.
Work with Integrity and Compliance observing all laws, industry standards, and company policies.
Secure appropriate budget for IITs, optimize participation in scientific congresses, and functional and therapeutic trainings
Responsible for managing and keeping track of own travel expenses to ensure appropriate time allocation and workload across
Key Performance Indicators:
Number of IITs supported and assisted in SoV across India/APAC/International
Number and content of monthly KOL interactions with scientific purpose
Support KOLs presenting on Alcon products (e.g., Advisory Boards and other non-promotional meetings)
Manage unsolicited educational grants requests according to internal processes
Key Requirement/Minimum Qualification
Prefer MD/DO/MBBS/OD/PhD/PharmD/Degree in Ophthalmology and/or Optometry
Fluency in English essential
Advanced knowledge of eye diseases/ working experience in Ophthalmology and/or Optometry therapy
Good knowledge of clinical trials procedures as well as the ICH-GCP and other ethical guidelines relevant to the medical device/pharma/Eye care industry
4-6 years of Industry experience in Ophthalmology and/or Optometry therapy area preferred and experience in HCP facing role
Experience in scientific presentations and basic experience in medical writing etc
Proven ability and experience to develop and foster peer-to-peer, credible relationships with Medical Experts/HA decision makers/ liaison with Ophthalmic societies
