POSITION SUMMARY: Within discipline develops designs for complete and complex engineering systems, structures and plant arrangements under supervision.Plans and executes the presentation of these in detailed scale models. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Generates 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) plant layouts and drawings using Microstation / Auto CAD / Smart Sketch from detailed design 3-D CAD model with minimal guidance from others. Proficient in S3D/Revit modelling - Equipment modelling, Raceway, Grounding and lighting. Preparation of 3-D CAD design model under the supervision of experienced designers.Assists in constructing detailed models and participates in client model reviews. Prepares bulk material quantity takeoffs for materials applicable to the discipline. Reviews design models, drawings and design documents prepared by others in the group and by material suppliers, as assigned. Compiles, maintains and accesses job drawing files, records, and drawing controls. Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements. Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Sound knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques using S3D /Microstation, engineering drawing, graphic arts, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline. Familiarity with relevant design standards and guides, Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups. Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline's design responsibilities. Basic Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to the discipline. Knowledge and understanding of Raceway, lighting, grounding design and modelling, cable sizing. General knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort. Experience in using Navisworks for model review and clash detection, proficiency in SPR. Extraction and preparation of material quantity take-offs from design drawings. Able to work in a team and cross functional environment. BASIC QUALIFICATION: 3-year diploma in Electrical from an accredited college or university. 2-5 years working experience.
