POSITION SUMMARY:

Within discipline develops designs for complete and complex engineering systems, structures and plant arrangements under supervision. Plans and executes the presentation of these in detailed scale models.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Generates 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) plant layouts and drawings using Microstation / Auto CAD / Smart Sketch from detailed design 3-D CAD model with minimal guidance from others.
• Proficient in S3D/Revit modelling Equipment modelling, Raceway, Grounding and lighting.
• Preparation of 3-D CAD design model under the supervision of experienced designers. Assists in constructing detailed models and participates in client model reviews.
• Prepares bulk material quantity takeoffs for materials applicable to the discipline.
• Reviews design models, drawings and design documents prepared by others in the group and by material suppliers, as assigned.
• Compiles, maintains and accesses job drawing files, records, and drawing controls.
• Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

• Sound knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques using S3D /Microstation, engineering drawing, graphic arts, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
• Familiarity with relevant design standards and guides, Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
• Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline\'s design responsibilities.
• Basic Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to the discipline.
• Knowledge and understanding of Raceway, lighting, grounding design and modelling, cable sizing.
• General knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort.
• Experience in using Navisworks for model review and clash detection, proficiency in SPR.
• Extraction and preparation of material quantity take-offs from design drawings.
• Able to work in a team and cross functional environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATION:

• 3-year diploma in Electrical from an accredited college or university.
• 2-5 years working experience.
