Director, Technical Writing

GENERAL SUMMARY

ArisGlobal is looking for a technical writing director to come lead a team of writers in delivering best-in-class software and process documentation. In this role, you will reimagine how we deliver documentation and user assistance for end users. You will dive into product features, processes, and solutions, and break them into digestible chunks that are easy to understand. You are also a key advocate for our users - delivering exactly the right content they need to be successful.

The ideal candidate is an outstanding writer with hands-on enterprise application software writing experience and has led teams responsible for producing content targeted to professional and technical audiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead a team of technical writers, setting the goals, priorities and vision.
• Lead and support team to create clear, accurate, best-in-class documentation that enables customers to configure and adopt solutions.
• Lead the development and adoption of new processes and tools that foster collaboration while delivering fantastic documentation and user assistance.
• Assimilate and organize a large amount of information into targeted topics and features that customers can easily find and apply.
• Improve accuracy, consistency, and quality of existing documentation. Identify gaps where they exist and develop plans to address them.
• Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure that the documentation is valuable to the intended audience.
• Scope and prioritize needs across products and departments
• Ensure that documentation consistently aligns with corporate branding, user interface texts, product training, and other information assets across the organization.
• Collaborate with other teams and coordinate the delivery of shared content.
• Build & apply team standards and processes for writing documentation and publishing and distribution strategies.
• Stay aware of trends and new tools and technologies in the technical writing industry.

• Degree in English, Technical Writing, a related field, or relevant professional experience
• 8+ years of technical writing experience for an enterprise software company
• Proven experience designing, planning, and delivering content solutions that meet the needs of customers
• Experience documenting complex software systems with cross-product or cross-service content
• Expert user of Madcap Flare and Madcap Central, or other XML-based content authoring system
• Experience using a Git-based versioning platform to maintain documentation versions, feature branches, etc.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

• Experience working in an agile development environment
• Experience publishing content to Zendesk
• Strong interest in integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) to support and enhance documentation efforts and deliverables
• Localization experience involving vendors and/or machine translation tools
• Experience delivering documentation for Life Science customers
