Role Purpose


We are currently recruiting for a Digital Talent & Learning Lead who will help transform our approach to talent and learning by bringing the expertise enabling us to connect talent, learning and career development through digital technology.


In this role, you will own the digital roadmap for Talent Management, Learning and Performance at the British Council. You will use technology and the latest thinking in digital learning design to manage the interface between People function technology, Digital teams and Learning & Development Operations, building and improving an inclusive learning and career development experience, as well as the capability within the Learning Experience team.


You will be a member of the global Talent, Learning and Performance centre of expertise, and part of the wider Talent and Organisational Development team (T&OD) team, which collaboratively creates the required frameworks to develop and launch products that meet future business needs, and which ensures that the infrastructure is in place to deliver a seamless talent and learning experience for colleagues across the British Council.


Role Context


The British Council has recently undertaken a significant Transformation programme across all areas of the business, with departments across the organisation at varying stages of maturity in implementing and embedding their new operating models.
The Talent and Organisational Development team (T&OD) exists to bring focus to the development of our people and organisation, partnering with leadership teams as we come out of the transformation programme, to build the diversity, future skills, capabilities and ways of working they need so that we continue to renew and strengthen our global impact.
The T&OD team also plays a significant role in the activation of our EVP (Employee Value Proposition), and is committed to influencing our culture and the experience of working within the British Council through collaborative work with leadership teams and colleagues in other People teams.


Main Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the digital roadmap and implementation plan to enable the delivery of strategic goals in collaboration with the Head of Talent, Learning & Performance.
  • Be an ambassador and subject matter expert for digital talent and learning, providing inclusive and thought leadership so that we continue to evolve our approach and maximise the impact we can have.
  • Consult with People Business Partners and business leaders to define requirements and identify opportunities for digital optimisation.
  • Source, produce and use data to generate insights and recommendations to manage and optimise existing systems and processes, and to drive continuous improvement and future performance with a particular focus on end-user experience.
  • Manage the relationship with Talent Acquisition, People function Technology, Digital & Technology and People insight to ensure the digital transformation for Talent development, that Learning and Performance is prioritised, and that requirements are addressed in the choice and implementation of the systems.
  • Manage the integration of third-party learning content providers and platforms, and quality assure the content provided through L&D operations; continuously assess and report on quality of service, delivery, and return on investment, working alongside the Global Learning Experience Specialists.
  • Stay on top of wider innovations in the talent and learning technology space and identify when system or process changes may be beneficial.
  • Design the framework that supports the development of an inclusive learning culture, curating internal and vendor learning content for the skills frameworks and the learner journeys defined by the Learning Experience Specialists and the Global Talent Lead.

Role specific knowledge and experience required


Minimum/essential
  • Digital learning specialist with previous experience working in a role with similar accountabilities and breadth.
  • Implementation and use of a learning management system and/or a learning experience platform or a talent intelligence platform.
  • Experience of developing and managing inclusive strategic and operational digital learning and talent initiatives.

Desirable
  • Experience of implementing an integrated talent, career and learning experience platform such as Eightfold.
  • Experience within a global organisation.
  • Experience of \xe2\x80\x98design thinking\xe2\x80\x99 methodologies.

Education
  • University degree, or equivalent in professional experience.
