Job Title: Digital Migration Governance Adviser Purpose Of Job Responsible for the day to day delivery of one or more IS business services including the delivery of projects, service support processes, provision on advice on the best exploitation of the service/s and the Management of all supporting technical services. Provides Technical support. Context and environment: (e.g. dept description, region description, organogram) The purpose of Global Information Services (GIS) in the British Council is to partner with the business in order to make effective use of Information in all its forms across the organisation. GIS has accountability for enabling the full life-cycle of information for the whole of the business. The British Council has undertaken a strategic review of its operating model including the creation of a new GIS operating model. This role is part of the new GIS team responsible implementing this operating model. This role is located within the GIS Service Delivery team and reports to Lead Implementor. The purpose of the GIS Service Delivery team is to deliver reliable Information Services to the business while improving quality and efficiency through external comparison and an unrelenting focus on continuous improvement. This role sits with and will be managed by the GIS Migration Project Team and will liaise with the Global Records Management Team in terms of training and training materials. The role holder will assist with the cleaning up of current and legacy data and the tailoring of the Corporate File Plan to meet Country requirements. It is intended that the role will provide guidance and good practice to facilitate virtual collaborative working and best use of MS 365. Role context Global Information Services (GIS) / Digital manage strategic IT partners, understands business needs and how Information Systems (IS) can help, and delivers IS for the whole British Council. Within GIS, the Collaboration service line provides technology and training to make the most out of MS 365 applications. IGRM is a second-line assurance function reporting directly to the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO). Its role is to set and interpret policy and provide assurance across Information Risk Management, Cyber Security, Records, Privacy, and Information Assurance. This role links across information governance and GIS Collaboration and aims at reducing key risk areas during data migration by providing first-line support to colleagues. Main Accountabilities Understanding information risks around data migration Providing strategic direction, guidance and training to colleagues for the house keeping of electronic records in country and directing users to appropriate training materials as well as delivering training where and when required Providing guidance and training on the tailoring of File Plans according to the Corporate File Plan prior to the migration of records Monitoring compliance with GIS/Digital and IGRM standards and policies relating to the digital migration project Consultancy, analysis & problem-solving Applies core technical/professional knowledge, recognised best practice approaches and insight to resolve information governance risks which arise in the provision of functional support to a specific organisational unit or area of corporate activity. Presents complex information clearly, tailoring the presentation of findings to meet the differing needs of both technical and non-technical audiences appropriately, as required. Service improvement Explains to customers and colleagues the need for compliance with the global GIS/Digital and IGRM policy framework and persuades them undertake the work to be undertaken preferably before the migration. Relationship & stakeholder management Qualifications Degree level qualification or equivalent Role Specific Knowledge And Experience Minimum 5-7 years\' experience.
