We are looking for an enthusiastic Decision Support Coordinator to join our Decision Support team within the Global Peer Review department.

You will be responsible for ensuring efficient submission of journal articles and operation of originality checks, including top level analysis and reporting as well as managing manuscript submission and ensuring effective workflow management of papers.

This is a fantastic role for an individual with exceptional attention to detail, a proactive approach to process improvement and problem solving and a real passion for supporting with the peer review process. You will be managing sensitive and complex stakeholder relationships including authors, editors, suppliers and colleagues, so excellent communication skills are also essential. Given the nature of the subject matter involved these roles would suit individuals with a Post Graduate background in a STEM subject, for example life sciences, medicine, or engineering as you will be required to understand the scientific context of the articles for which you are supporting. Candidates with dual qualifications in STEM and Humanities are also encouraged to apply.

What you will be doing

  • Performing top level analysis of the iThenticate Similarity reports and reporting back on this to the appropriate parties.
  • Checking author-generated data entries and electronic files of manuscripts against previously published material
  • Managing your own journal list and contributing to team-working on other titles to ensure peer review to time and required standards
  • Managing the quality of your own journal list including problem solving, effective feedback and liaising with the Global Peer Review team to ensure effective management and support of originality checking system
  • Providing project support where required including supervision of and reporting on test journals.
  • Providing support for training, meetings and workshops by participating, organizing and collating meeting notes as required
  • Supporting a climate of continuous improvement by identifying own workflow process obstacles and suggesting improvements and sharing best practice at all times.
  • Managing your own learning, taking responsibility to identify and develop skills gaps and active knowledge sharing, with particular regard to peer review systems.
  • Acting as an ambassador for Taylor & Francis at all times e.g., at external supplier user group meetings and with external stakeholders including authors, editors, suppliers etc.
  • Handling confidential information sensitively with consideration for the legal and ethical issues that may arise due to mishandling.
Qualifications

What we are looking for
  • A post graduate qualification in a relevant STEM.
  • A proactive, helpful and enthusiastic approach to your work
  • A real interest in improving processes and finding solutions to overcome problems
  • Highly proficient in computer applications and MS Office (full training on our in-house systems will be provided)
  • Excellent time and workload management
  • Confident communication skills (email, phone, and in-person).
  • Previous experience handling data and reporting with excellent attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of supplier interactions.
  • Excellent level of customer service.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) is essential
Previous experience working in academic journals, manuscript tracking systems such as ScholarOne Manuscripts and Editorial Manager and a basic knowledge of peer review would be advantageous however full training and support will be provided.
