Job Description


As a control manager you will work very closely with the ICB CORE Governance Lead for defining and managing strategic initiatives related to the evolving maturity of the Control environment for the business. The role will support ICB Controls Organisation to execute the CORE Issue Management and Metrics (KRI/KPI) Program in accordance with the Operational Risk Issue Management and Operational Risk Metric Standards, the Firmwide CORE Procedures, any guidance provided by the Central CORE Team. The role partners with ICB Control Managers, Strategic Control Practices Team in AWM/CCB, Firmwide CORE team and other key resources to lead, define, design, and execute on the integration of multiple key objectives into the control environment.

An understanding of how to manage in a fast-paced changing environment, how to work within structured decision-making constructs, knowing when to challenge topics, issues and decisions are skills that will ensure success. The ability to build relationships in a collaborative environment is critical - every decision and deliverable is interlinked to other areas not within this position\'s direct line of influence.

  • Assist the ICB Controls team through the continued implementation of the Firmwide Issue Management and Metrics Framework with a focus on data quality to provide ongoing monitoring of the program.
  • Prepare and provide Operational Issue Management and Metric guidance to ICB Control Managers and perform deep dive analysis of thematic issues
  • Host sessions and reviews on various Issue Management and Metrics topics to facilitate a consistent approach across ICB Controls organisation
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and create a more resilient control practices environment and participate in projects to deliver improvements
  • Ensure synergies and conflicts are recognized and addressed for holistic solutions for effective and timely delivery of key milestones
  • Extract, analyse and synthesize data from various sources using Excel, JIRA, Confluence, and other analytical tools
  • Support governance activities by generating reports and presentations related to Operational Risk Issues and Metrics for Controls Management and Firmwide/Business Operating Committees

Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills
  • Bachelors\' degree or equivalent preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience; background in Controls, Issue Management, KRI/KPI or Risk Management preferred
  • Working knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to design, create and evaluate the operational risk and control environment in conjunction with business partners
  • Ability to develop and present concise information to large audiences for consensus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), JIRA and Confluence required
  • Experience with data analytics tool (Alteryx, Tableau, etc.) preferred
  • Communication/Presentation - excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence business leaders in a meaningful and actionable manner
  • Problem solving / Analytical skills - solid critical thinking, attention to detail and analytical skills; able to synthesize large amounts of data and formulate appropriate conclusions
  • Implementation skills - Change Management
  • Networking - strong interpersonal skills, collaboration and relationship building skills
  • Work autonomously to affect change - flexible, adaptable to shifting priorities; manages competing priorities to achieve the most effective result and able to work in a fast-paced, results driven environment
  • Decision Making/Judgement - moderate level of independent decision-making using sound judgement
