Job Description


As a Compliance Officer of a virtual asset custody service provider, the candidate will play a critical role in ensuring regulatory compliance and risk management within the organisation. The candidate will be primarily responsible to develop and maintain effective compliance programs, policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and industry best practices related to virtual assets industry. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams and senior management to ensure adherence to compliance standards and mitigate any potential risks.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain comprehensive compliance programs to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks associated with virtual asset custody services.
  • Develop policies, procedures and controls to foster a culture of compliance within the organisation.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and evaluate compliance risks related to virtual asset custody services. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement appropriate controls and risk mitigation measures.
  • Perform due diligence on (potential) clients, partners and service providers to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Conduct periodic reviews and audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely regulatory reports as required by applicable regulatory bodies. Ensure compliance with reporting requirements related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC) and other relevant regulations as applicable.
  • Implement effective monitoring and surveillance systems to detect and prevent potential risks of ML/TF and violation of compliance policies. Conduct investigations as necessary and take appropriate actions for reporting.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs to educate employees on regulatory requirements, policies and procedures. Promulgate a culture of compliance and awareness throughout the organisation.
  • Act as the point of contact for any regulatory and law enforcement enquiries to supply necessary information.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, industry associations and other stakeholders to stay informed about evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Participate in industry forums and conferences to represent the organisation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate compliance audits conducted by internal and external auditors. Ensure prompt resolution of identified issues and recommendations.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant regulatory frameworks, guidelines and requirements applicable to virtual assets industry in India and other jurisdictions. Develop and implement compliance strategies to ensure adherence to these regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor\'s/Master\'s degree in law, finance, business administration, or a related field. Professional certifications in compliance such as CAMS, ICA, CFCS are advantageous.
  • Over 5 years as a Compliance Officer or a similar role, in the virtual asset industry.
  • Strong knowledge of virtual asset industry and blockchain technology.
  • In-depth understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks, including but not limited to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and other applicable regulations.
  • Familiarity with international compliance standards, such as the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recommendations and global sanctions enforcements.
  • Experience in developing and implementing compliance programs, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to organisational scenarios.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, adaptability and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with compliance-related software tools and systems.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
