Service Now Project Lead

The opportunity
This job entails providing technical leadership to the ServiceNow Development team. Ensure that the ServiceNow platforms are managed effectively, patched and upgraded on a timely basis. Provide guidance and mentor junior team members. The selected candidate:

  • Leads the Development & Engineering team in area of specialism and develops the team to ensure it has the right capability
  • Contributes to the strategic direction within area of specialism including standards, culture and ways of working in line with departmental strategy
  • Strategically leverages networks to drive innovation, best practice and a continuous improvement culture
  • Drives the relationship with other departments and significantly contributes to the development of the design, technology, product development and vendor strategy

Your key responsibilities
  • Leads the Development & Engineering team in area of specialism and develops the team to ensure it has the right capability
  • Contributes to the strategic direction within area of specialism including standards, culture and ways of working in line with departmental strategy
  • Strategically leverages networks to drive innovation, best practice and a continuous improvement culture
  • Drives the relationship with other departments and significantly contributes to the development of the design, technology, product development and vendor strategy
  • Motivates direct team to accept change and adapt priorities in order to meet changing demands. Adapts personal approach to meet the needs of different or new situations
  • Collaborates with individuals inside own team and with other teams to complete project work. Maintains strong relationships with internal/external customers and business stakeholders. Builds a broad network of strong relationships across the organization
  • Develops, coaches, and mentors\xe2\x80\x99 members of the team and provides development assignments. Communicates performance expectations and monitors and evaluates performance of members of team to ensure plans are met

Skills and attributes for success
  • Highly advanced knowledge of designing, developing, and debugging solutions
  • Proven experience with ServiceNow configuration elements (LDAP, VPN, SSO/SAML, etc.)
  • Domain Separation, ITSM, CSM, ITBM, IRM
  • Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle process, including requirement analysis, quality assurance, design, scheduling, implementation, issue tracking, version control and deployment

To qualify for the role, you must have
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Mathematics, or related field preferred
  • Exceptional relevant experience in either an internal or external software or platform engineering role, or similar, with expert technical knowledge in assigned specialism
  • Expert technical knowledge and experience in delivering software / platform engineering solutions (depending on specialism), providing broad and deep technical advice and managing user requirements and process and standards maintenance
  • Significant people leadership and stakeholder management experience
  • Expert in JavaScript development in ServiceNow components
  • Experience with Web Services Integration (SOAP, REST, and JSON)
  • Experience with System / Process Automation (Orchestration)
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes including client requirement analysis and system design
  • DevOps experience
  • Experience with governance/service management / operations
  • Experience managing remote teams
  • Certified System Administrator
  • Certified Application Developer
  • Certified in ITIL Foundation (v3 or v4)
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business, Engineering, IT, Science, other Technical qualification or related field preferred
  • More than 15 years in a corporate IT environment
  • Good experience in client-facing roles
  • Experience of working with multi-location teams
  • Delivery using modern methodologies especially SAFe Agile, Iterative, Waterfall, etc.
