ABOUT THE ROLE
AstraZeneca IT is currently running a major transformation programme which consists of a number of workstreams working together to deliver IT- wide changes to our Operating Model, Organisation, Capabilities and ways of working, to underpin our IT2025 Strategy.

As part of new operating model, we are transitioning from an IT universe which currently consists of thousands of stand-alone applications, to a limited number of broad Enterprise Platforms, to drive re-use and commonality. Future IT products and applications will be built on these platforms demonstrating standard components, security frameworks, re-usable APIs etc. One of the first enterprise platforms to be established will be ServiceNow. We are seeking an experienced, motivated and articulate individual with experience in establishing and managing engineering teams in ServiceNow or similar platforms across global multinational enterprises. We are looking for a Technical Lead with overall accountability to ensure quality product work on the ServiceNow platform against the outcomes agreed and overall business strategy. The role leads the team of engineers assigned to the UX, Core & Intelligence ServiceNow products as well as assigned ServiceNow for Business Products that are not in scope for the federated product teams in other parts of AZ-IT. The Technical Lead will be a key member of the ServiceNow product team and is responsible for implementing platform solutions that are aligned to the overall platform design principles and strategy, as a key core member of the team working alongside the Senior Solution Engineers and other developers within the team in a highly collaborative environment.

The role resides within the overall Enterprise Platforms space in our Enterprise Capabilities and Solutions (ECS) Function. ECS is a newly formed team, designed to be a key Centre for Enablement for Enterprise Platforms, Software Engineering, Testing, Hyper Automation, AR/VR and Application Maintenance.
The role will help in transforming AstraZenecas ServiceNow landscape from a primarily IT-driven, centralized model, to a federated operating model, with key business-IT groups being able to demonstrate the platform, within established guardrails, across a wide variety of enterprise functions such as HR, Finance, Portfolio Management etc. The person in this role will need to be able to understand global, functional considerations and provide thought leadership and direction to the relevant ServiceNow products and opportunities for development. The incumbent will need to develop and implement the operational processes and key controls and to ensure successful implementation and adoption of the UX, Core & Intelligence products as well as other assigned products. The candidate will lead a team of developers and hold accountability for agile delivery on the platform.

They will work within a matrixed environment, leading, developing and engaging a high-performing team. Key partners need to be managed effectively to achieve this, including Product Managers, to ensure appropriate demand management and prioritization, enabling successful Agile, Platform-based ways of working. This role will provide domain expertise, owning product delivery from early concept to market and subsequent optimisation. This role plays a key role in Defect / Incident resolution and is equipped to mitigate significant and sustained impact to the business. As we expand ServiceNow as a strategic platform across the enterprise, the role will participate in delivering PoCs, assist in building business cases, set up expert teams to provide ServiceNow related expertise to the new projects /business areas.
Typical Accountabilities Building a trusted partnership with the Product Owner and Engineers

Overseeing product backlog delivery (enhancements & projects)

Understands the products business needs in high-level and provides technical consulting relevant to those needs

Align with business priorities owned by Security Operations Product owner

Liaises with Solution Architects for architectural guidance

Overseeing the requirements collection and assists with effort estimates, where appropriate

Liaises with Testing activities for quality assurance

Keeps up to date with the ServiceNow roadmap for their respective modules

Supports engineers with user stories. Takes ownership of complex business requirements and works them to completion guiding developers.

Supports Administrators in case of expert help required to solve production issues with the product

Ensures reusable Knowledge is captured as part of project & enhancement delivery

Leads and provides mentoring and guidance for engineers in the scrum team

Suggests improvements and new features and functionalities proactively to Product owner.

Work with the ServiceNow platform team, senior solution engineers, enterprise architecture, and the wider Product Manager community to find the best solutions for the company

Developing, nurturing and working alongside a strong team that is growing and leading the services

Support employees by challenging poor practices/the status quo, whilst building meaningful relationships allowing influence across internal and external customer groups

Constantly innovate, utilising standard platform features and enablers to nurture and grow the platform to deliver value to the business

Deliver effective L2/L3 Support & Service Management for products in scope, ensuring key service metrics and KPIs are maintained and improved for products in scope

Key contributor to the establishment of Development Standards & Guardrails

Key contributor on the governance of customization versus configuration across ServiceNow community

Contribute to the test and release automation, setting up and maintaining automated test sets, partnering with the ECS Testing team

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Essential
Highly organized, diligent, and an inherent ability to multi-task

Team leader and consensus builder

Ability to rapidly identify and resolve issues

Strong presentation and communication skills, therefore being able to present solution to platform Design Authority

Should have a challenging and constructive mind set, to ensure conforming with core design principles

Ability to understand business requirements and convert them into solution designs

Ideal candidates will also have the following Service Now Certifications: Certified System Administrator, and Certified Implementation Specialist (but not essential)

Experience in leading ServiceNow technical teams in global, multi-national and multi-functional settings

Experience of involvement in:

Platform operations and Management

Technical Design Authority

Desirable Degree or equivalent in computing/engineering

Enterprise Application Integration background

Biopharmaceutical industry experience
Education: Any Graduate
