Job Description

Seva Sadan is a 114 year-old non-profit organisation based in Gamdevi, Mumbai. We are registered as a Trust and run by an elected Managing Committee who work voluntarily. The services we offer include a Residential Home for underprivileged girls (ages 6 to 18), schools in Marathi and English medium and a range of vocational classes to encourage improved employability. We are looking for a Chief Financial Officer.   • Primary responsibility for managing the finances, including financial planning, management of financial risks, record- keeping, and financial reporting
  • Budget management, cost benefit analysis and forecasting needs of the company
  • Ability to analyse and produce financial and business reports with great insights.
  • A candidate with strong understanding of working with Charities, thorough knowledge of rules and regulations of
  • NGOs, knowledge of Indian accounting standards, awareness of all statutory compliance of Charities will be preferred.
5 Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the Society.
  • Establish and monitor financial and accounting policies, procedures and controls
  • Support effective decision making by providing timely updates to the board members on strategic aspects
  • Prepare financial long term and short term strategy
  • Oversee the preparation of yearly accounts (profit and loss statement and balance sheet) in line with statutory requirements and internal corporate guidelines. Financial Planning and preparation of annual Budgets in consultation with the respective Committees for all Departments of the Society.
  • Drive the review and analysis of various financial statements (Balance sheet and income statement) on periodic basis and provide insights on key ratios.
  • Build internal controls to ensure efficient working capital management and cash conversion cycle
  • Ensure healthy liquidity and financial sustainability of the Society
  • Supervise adherence to statutory compliances and oversee timely and accurate preparation/ documentation
  • Compliances of all statutory requirements like
  • Provident Fund, Goods and Services Tax (GST)
  • Foreign Contribution Regulatory Act (FCRA), TDS etc, including regular Filing of Returns as required.
  • Also, keeping abreast with the amendments from time to time.
  • Complying with all the Income-Tax related requirements of the Society.
  • Liaise with external legal experts/counsels, where required to provide guidance and advice. Liaising with our Statutory Auditors for Annual Audit and finalization of Accounts, Income-tax, and matters of statutory compliances. Liaising with our external consultants in matters relating to GST, PF, ESIC etc.
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the Committee. Regularly furnishing monthly department-wise Management Information Systems (MIS) statements and suggesting improvements for more effective control of operations.
  • Handling bank matters and transactions including e-banking. Managing and maintaining good relations with our bankers.
  • Maintaining fiscal discipline, expenditure control and optimizing returns on investments
  • Preparing Fundraising proposals and Fund utilization statement for donors
  • Supervising and training Accounts Associates in the department
6 Qualification:
  • Chartered Accountant or Post graduate in Experience Accounts and Finance.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
7 Salary:
  • Rs.70,000/- to Rs.80,000/- per month
  • Salary will commensurate with experience
