Brief Description:
Install, configure, and maintain computer systems and associated peripheral equipment. Maintain operating efficiency and stability, ensure the security and integrity of all systems and data, and respond to outages and other issues. Perform application administration activities such as creating, modifying, and deleting users, optimizing remote access, and security access for messaging systems, databases, and web applications. Coordinate with department leadership to plan, design, and schedule the release of all software, hardware, and operating system updates. Develop and enhance processes and technical documentation, create back-up procedures, test plans, and reports. Prioritize and respond to requests for service and may provide escalation support to helpdesk staff.
Responsibilities:

  • Engineering of SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Install and configure systems for projects and clients
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards and documentation
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that extend the business and promote new capabilities
  • Optimise infrastructure solutions to ensure incident rates are reduced and continual service improvement is occurring

Education / Experience:

  • 6 years or more relevant system administration experience at a minimum

  • Associate level or higher education certification and evidence of experience in 2 or more of the following technologies:


    • Systems Administration/System Engineer experience in Linux, Unix or Windows

    • Storage administration (Pure, NetApp, ZFS or similar – very desirable)

    • Virtualization software experience (OVM/XEN or VMware - desirable)

    • Cloud Administration Experience (OCI/Azure or AWS – desirable)

    • Networking and firewall experience ( F5 load balancers, ASA, routing and switching, or other desirable but not essential)

    • Hardware (servers, storage) is preferable


  • ITIL Foundations Certification a plus


This role may require access to customer environments as a means of providing the necessary support to resolve an issue or inquiries into performance-related issues, or for periodic maintenance and management of the systems. In some instances, these environments may contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII) (e.g., such as HIPAA-related Personal Health Information – PHI) and Payment Card Information (PCI). Personnel are expected to adhere to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in protecting PII.
