The AFG (Health Actuarial) team is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Mercer\xe2\x80\x99s Gurugram office-

What can you expect?

Health actuaries work with a broad range of clients and industries as members of client teams, providing in-depth research and analysis of clients\' medical, dental, vision, life and disability programs, such as cost projections, risk forecasts, claims & healthcare analytics, liability estimates and pricing analysis.

The AFG India team currently supports the US Actuarial & Financial group with a broad range of health actuarial & financial management services primarily for US clients such as Claim Experience reporting, Reserving (IBNP), Regulatory reporting, pricing and underwriting support. We serve more than 40 locations across United States and have a client base of 350+ clients, producing more than 3,000 reports annually.

The role would require to lead the accurate and timely analysis on various big data and actuarial/financial projects for medical, dental, vision, life, group risk life and disability programs, with more large-scale consulting projects and any new product launches and / or service transitions in the pipeline. A key part of this role is also to act as a project manager for actuarial projects as well as liaise with onshore consultants on various work aspects as well as internal technical teams & SMEs. The candidate will be responsible for delivering an excellent and consistent experience for all our clients by meeting defined SLAs and onshore delivery protocols.

The applicant is also expected to be diligent and responsible adequately to pull more out of the scope projects from onshore and put in the effort to contribute to other spheres as well such as lean, process improvement.

We will count on you for:
  • Review/Check the deliverables on comparatively complex and/or big clients client portfolio being delivered by India AFG team across all service offerings.
  • Works on complex actuarial/quantitative analysis projects with some guidance from onshore senior project team members to assess and project costs, rates, risks and trends associated with health & benefit coverages and other associated actuarial services such as Rx Financials, Pharmacy Actuary Support, M&A Harmonization.
  • Projecting retiree medical costs (Post Retiree Medical schemes) using cost/enrolment data and providing advice on projected experience and actuarial valuation, accounting reporting under US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Project cashflow scenarios and simulations for Insurance and Reinsurance Funds (including Captives) and recommend optimal capital management strategies, including reinsurance limits.
  • Evaluating group risk and income protection benefits; making recommendations on how to manage future costs based on demographics.
  • Prepares presentations or reports of data trend analyses, in order to summarize findings and implications and to recommend a strategy, solution, or plan design to the client.
  • Ensure seamless and superior client service delivery on the work aligned as per prescribed SLAs viz. Accuracy / Timeliness / Efficiency / Utilization etc.
  • Proactively managing all stakeholders; which includes internal and onshore health business leaders.
  • Participates in the development of company\'s intellectual capital in order to develop knowledge of health insurance actuarial services and products.
  • Represent India AFG in global forums related to technical competencies and other mutual collaborations.
  • Anticipate and plan for developing future technical capabilities across AFG India. Guide and mentor team members on actuarial principles, Mercer\xe2\x80\x99s tools and processes and help them identify and address their developmental areas through-
- Providing regular feedback on their work

- Receiving inputs from them on their developmental areas

- Presenting such instances to AFG India leaders and initiating training programs
  • Ensure gating procedures, process control and enhancements via reporting, RCA etc.
  • Active participation in SME/knowledge sharing/training/process improvement initiatives and participate in testing of new tools/processes and roll outs.
  • Innovate and implement areas of improvement on quality and efficiency.
  • Support transition of new services/geographies and in managing ongoing operations of established services.
  • Participate and contribute in any special / ad-hoc project requirements.
Note: Applicants should be flexible working in shifts in onshore/offshore delivery model

What you need to have:

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Knowledge and experience in core health actuarial domain e.g., reserving, pricing.
  • Strong actuarial modelling experience and ability to work with large quantities of data.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and interpretational skills.
  • Sound knowledge of process documentation, development of SOP, knowledge artefacts
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
  • Good command on MS office applications (Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Coding and programming skills (R, Python, SQL etc.) would be added advantage.
  • Excellent communication and good coaching skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver quality, timely and consistent results.
Education:
  • Graduation with Mathematics/Statistics/Actuarial Science or any subject with sizeable mathematical content
  • Fully / Nearly qualified actuary preferably in health domain
Work experience:
  • Minimum 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience overall in actuarial services (domestic or international)
  • Experience in health insurance is preferred
