Job Title: Assistant Manager- Accounts Payable

Purpose of job:

The main priorities of the post are

  • Detailed understanding of Procure to Pay, Fixed Asset, Direct & Indirect Taxation and Month End Reporting and Closing process.
  • Practical experience on statutory compliances
  • Experience in handling reporting and monthly closing work.
  • Audit coordination for both external and internal audit.
  • Strong organizational skills and be part of a global business team
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks within Matrix environment
  • Customer driven & team oriented
Role context

The department takes care of accounting, reporting and compliances of the legal entity. Apart from it the department would also provide assistance and consultancy to other legal entities of British Council in India working under similar environment.

Main opportunities/challenges for this role

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:

Develop and maintain an effective control environment
  • Assisting in establishing governance over the accounts payable and month end process.
  • Managing fixed asset accounting and responsible for conducting physical verification of assets.
  • Define internal controls over various activities undertaken within the accounting and finance functions.
Review and improve systems and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • To be aware of system enabled checks and controls
  • Ensuring integrity and completeness of financial records & compliance with financial control standards
  • Resolve issues arising during system operations.
  • Preparation and updating policies and process for various accounting, reporting and compliance activities.
  • Continuously innovate with focus to improve process-enhance efficiencies and add value and ensuring quality consciousnesses all aspects of the team.
Accounting and Reporting.
  • Manages and supervises the accounts payable and PO team in the organization.
  • Manages functions like maintaining the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and project accounting, fixed assets.
  • Ensures that systems, policies, and procedures adhere to company policies while functioning with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensures that the accounts payable and the company's financial obligations are met efficiently.
  • Keep track of the company's financial expenditures, maintain a database and provide reports as and when requested by supervisors.
  • Oversee all payment transactions and so on.
  • Will be in charge of data entry, validation, and processing of various types of invoices like general overhead, subcontractor, and employee travel reimbursements.
  • Keeps track of the status of all transactions taking place within the company and external vendors and contractors.
  • Standardize procedures to generate efficiency in-house and create internal templates to be used by the company.
  • Responsible to undertake improvement projects in process.
  • Responsible for managing internal and statutory audits and provide information for audits.
  • Managing the relationship with external consultants.
  • Provide support for various projects undertaken by Corporate Finance of the on-going projects
  • Responsible for month end book closing for the entity.
  • Responsible for monthly MIS and dashboard for management.
  • Responsible for up to date maintenance of P&L and Balance Sheet schedules & reconciliations
  • Responsible for booking and meeting the foreign exchange requirements
  • Preparation of financial details for meetings with directors and other review meetings
