Assistant Manager - Business Development Location : Mumbai HO About the role We are looking for experienced, passionate, and motivated individuals to join our Sales team. Your main responsibility will be to drive our business success by implementing a strong & sustainable sales strategy. KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT Managing organizational sales by developing a business plan that covers sales, revenue, and expense controls. As Outside Sales for Air & Ocean Freight your main task will be to promote our products in every form to ensure promotion and sales of our possibilities. Your primary responsibility is to realize sales targets and execute the sales strategy as it\'s been laid out You will maintain existing customer relations as well as expand our customer base with new ones exploring new markets, whilst keeping your customer portfolio up-to-date at all times by administrating dates in the Available Sales reports You will visit existing and potential customers to understand their needs and build with the operational team a customized solution that perfectly fits with customers\' requirements. You will secure customer-generated revenues and serve as the main entry point for air & ocean freight both internally and externally. Your sales activities will be divided between primarily outside sales (i.e. customer visits) and inside sales (i.e. acquisition by phone -both warm & cold). You advise your customer and propose custom-made services according to their requirements. You participate in the elaboration of the sales offer and discuss with the customer the terms and conditions of the contract. For that purpose, you negotiate the prices according to the pricing policy of our group. You ensure the follow-up of the sale until the payment and you may need to take part in the commercial management and settlement of claims and litigations. You participate in the definition of business strategy and corporate marketing. As a true ambassador of the company with customers, you follow and analyze changes in the market and raise the relevant information to your hierarchy. You remain accountable for Outstanding and overdue recovery with accrued interest. SALES SUPPORT Prepares sales contracts/proposals based on approved proposals and ensures all external proposals are accompanied by our standard terms & conditions of carriage & credit. Assisting with the preparation of tender responses including rates procurement, rates matrix for tender, and tender document You monitor the progress of the shipment until the final destination You participate in the contract setting and monitor customers\' payments with the Collection Desk. You may participate in the management of commercial disputes. You report your commercial pipeline to both local Express Global Logistics Management. You work with other EXG branches to share sales leads (potential business of your customers related to other branches\' areas) In addition, as a member of our sales force, you ensure the recognize, mention, and communicate possible other logistic services, such as our multimodal transport, Transportation, Projects, and storing solutions towards your customers\' portfolio, and share this with the Sales team to promote and follow up. SALES MANAGEMENT Create a deep knowledge of profitability creation in Custom Broking and Freight forwarding Provides weekly EOWs & monthly Sales Report to General Manager regarding sales performance. Maintains accurate records of all pricings, sales, and activity reports submitted by Account Executives. Creates and conducts proposal presentations and RFP responses. Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines. Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes. Maintain strong relationships with vendors (shipping lines, airlines, international agents, trucking companies, and other logistics companies) to obtain updated pricing and freight info. INTRA TEAM BUILDING Actively engage with the operations and other departments in defining and documenting standard operating procedures for specific contracts as a part of the negotiation process. Finalize contracts/proposals after including any changes required by the customer and ensuring all authorized signatories sign the final draft of the contract/proposal. Ensure all appropriate contract records (system files and hard copy) are maintained, and updated and renewals initiated well in time before the expiring of the contract/proposal Create sales performance reports for weekly/monthly meetings. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS More than five years\' sales experience of which three years in a sales management capacity in a freight forwarding environment. Postgraduate degree in International Trade or Transport/Logistics or Air Transportation. ESSENTIAL SKILLS You are experienced in planning and implementing sales strategies. You are experienced in customer relationship management. You are Proficient with numbers to analyze sales data and produce reports Possess leadership and public speaking skills You know the tender process and management. Your autonomy, rigor, responsiveness, and proactivity will enable you to be successful. You have strong interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills Proven track record of sales in a similar role in the freight forwarding industry
