Job Description

The Assistant Editor (Contract) will support the acquisitions and development activity of the Engineering and Applied Sciences Books Program to ensure smooth functioning of publishing programs. The key job responsibilities will be:
- Managing and supporting all activity realted to the publication of book projects assigned to the employee
- Communicating with authors, reviewers, colleagues around the world, including editorial, production and marketing.
- Providing logistical and organizational support to the Editorial Director as needed.
- Any other tasks realted to general management of the book backlist and front list of the book program
Requirements Education: Science background preferred, but not required. Must hold at least a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree. Experience: 2 plus years of experience in publishing and/or copyediting is required. Skills: Candidates must have good communication skills an excellent command on the English language. In addition candidates must have excellent organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and work under deadlines. Must be able to learn new tools and technologies quickly. Tools: At least intermediate level expertise in basic MS office (Excel, Word). Travel: Ability to travel when required, travel requirement <20%
