Operations:

Directing Negotiations with the right carriers at the right time by fully understanding market dynamics per trade lanes.

Managing price negotiations with key decision makers at the carrier by using your market knowledge

Providing Ocean Group and Sales Group advanced notifications on market trends and therefore deciding to play the market proactively

Building trust & relationship with the carriers by sharing the right market feedback and by asking for reasonable rates over a period.

Building smart list of special deals in different trade lanes so, can be used to quote similar customer sizes/profiles.

Have the ability to price multi-lane multi product RFQs in a short turnaround time

Keeping a close watch on lane wise trends and keeping ocean manager/sales/regional product team updated so strategic calls on margins or below cost pricing can be taken.

Increasing business conversion ratios per lane and program we focus on

Margin analysis and maximization/management on all lanes

Make pricing a revenue center rather than a cost center

Tasks

Identify Major & Niche Carriers on All Trade lanes.

Constantly digging rates across lanes and carriers covering total market width

Constantly digging demand and capacity situation across lanes n carriers

Providing & presenting smart analytics to show trends on pricing within lanes across carriers

Keeping a close ear to the ground by maintaining solid relationships across carriers to understand trends and using that knowledge to negotiate fair pricing across the spectrum of carriers available in that lane

Constantly dig other local costs like brokerage and trucking to be able to construct better all in number proposals to client

Support in Negotiating Prices / Volume Commitments / GRI & PSS Application / Rate Structure / etc... with Core & Niche Carriers on Regular Basis for All Trades

Maintaining Pricing Grids (LCL/FCL) Including Core & Niche Carrier Rate Offers on Major Trades (Asia, Europe, USA, & Intra-Regional EB / WB) - Exports - US /Europe & Imports - China /Fareast Lane

Support in Negotiating Prices / Volume Commitments / Rate Structure / etc... with Local LCL & FCL Transporters on Regular Basis

Maintaining BUY Vs SELL Inland Haulage Charges, Customs Clearance Charges, Documentation Charges, THC's and Other Charges for All FCL / LCL Inbound / Outbound Cargo to / from Western India region

Tracking Changes in Surcharges (GRI / BAF / CAF / WRS / PSS / PCS / etc...) on a Periodic (Wkly / Mthly) Basis for All Trades

Coordinating Quoting Activities with GSE's, DSE's, Sales Coordinator & Overseas Offices

Working with Sales Operation on QUOTING SYSTEM Reports

Analyzing QUOTING SYSTEM Reports and F/U w/ Salespeople on Quote Status

Filing / Updating ULI's / TLI's in ATS for All Current and/or Recently Secured Accounts + Communicating Reference Numbers with Operations and Overseas Offices

Monitoring Carrier Allocations and Sharing with the India and MAIR Teams

Preparing Periodic Newsletters on Changes in Surcharges and Underlying Market, port and carrier conditions based on different Market Sources and Notifying customers and overseas offices on periodic basis.

Reviewing and coordinating Import / Export RFQ's with Branches / Agents / Regional Offices + Drafting down questions & suggestions to RFQ Owners based on knowledge of Ocean Services and Local Market Practices.

Preparing & Monitoring Target Accounts Status Report on a Periodic (Wkly / Mthly) Basis with Regional Managers

Tracking Development of All Target Accounts on All Trades

Sharing Import & Export pricing tabs for core lanes with all sales/overseas

Support in preparing & publishing Pricing Guideline with all overseas office / posting on portals

Maintaining list of NAC deals filed centrally and overseas for Import and Exports and making sure they are most updated & negotiated at all times

Constantly reviewing reports on pricing /carriers etc and sharing analysis on regular basis to develop action plan

Maintaining RFQ calendar based on the Bids for year and shared with districts , regional teams to support engagement programs

Maintaining and Sharing Bid Management information and progress periodically

Customer

Have a thorough understanding of local market pricing conditions

Have a thorough understanding of and personal involvement with the top 25 ocean customers

Manage all ocean business within the branch after transition from sales

Oversee the branch bid/quotation process for the ocean product

Train , educate, and assist branch sales staff on ocean product, through joint sales calls

Participate in the weekly branch sales meeting

Finance:

Review, understand and focus on improving department freight yields.

Ensure company credit procedures are followed and utilized effectively.

Ensure any contracts, vendor, customer or other, are reviewed in accordance to company contract policies prior to being signed.

Follow company capex procedure for the purchasing of any equipment for your staff or department.

Utilize Top 20 Accounts report to continually evaluate the development of you departmental client base and the revenue distribution amounts and % of top clients, and work towards goal of balanced customer base (no more than 10% revenue by one customer)
