The Financial Controls team is charged with creating and maintaining a leading financial control framework that mitigates the risk of material financial misstatement, and helps protects the Group against financial fraud. This includes assessing design and operating effectiveness of controls and serving as a 2nd line of defence function for management. The team forms a part of the larger LSEG Finance organisation reporting into the Group Controller.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of any Policy changes relevant to Finance, whether driven through internal or external changes due to legislations (.e.g. UK Corporate Reform). The role reports to the Manager, Risk, Compliance & Policy who is one of three direct reports of the Head of Financial Controls.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Finance is in compliance with group-wide policies (e.g. Enterprise Records Management Policy, Controls Framework, Third Party Risk Management Policy)

  • Review any changes to internal group-wide policies and assess impact to Finance; assist in implementing new or changes to group-wide policies

  • Ensure compliance with LSEG\xe2\x80\x99s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) taking into consideration risk life cycle (risk identification, risk assessment, risk monitoring, risk mitigation and reporting)

  • Promoting an appropriate risk culture within Finance

  • Key liaison with MetricStream (LSEG\xe2\x80\x99s central GRC tool) team

  • Support the internal controls assurances processes, including monitoring and reviewing of remediation plan

  • Stay on top of changes across the group and Finance to ensure impact is considered as part of regular risk assessment


Skills and experience:

Required

  • Prior experience of finance, operations or controls-specific experience or a combination thereof

  • Familiarity with risk management process

  • Robust knowledge around policy development and maintenance

  • University (equivalent) degree and/or ACCA (equivalent). Experience working in a sophisticated, multi-disciplinary global organisation and handling critical matters while demonstrating respect and cultural awareness within a multicultural workforce

  • Ability to understand complex issues outside their experience and expertise and facilitate resolution across multiple function is crucial

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present to a wide range of people

  • Good command of Office applications


Preferred

  • Prior experience from a similar role

  • Knowledge/familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS)
