The Role Responsibilities Job Role The purpose of this role is to support the Senior Operational Risk Officer, OR Sub Risk Types, in discharging their accountabilities through delivery of an array of expertise to CROs, Risk Officers and others across the Second-Line, as well as to relevant First-Line colleagues. This role includes the management and oversight of the Operational Risk Non-Principal Risk Types (&ldquoNPRT") Development and delivery of an agreed annual assessment from Risk Framework Owners (&ldquoRFO") and Subject Matter Experts (&ldquoSME") Review and challenge on each NPRT attestations made by RFOs and SMEs including the performance of continual independent risk based sampling Bank-wide, to evidence Policy / stand-alone Standard embeddedness Additional assurance and deep dives for GOR-owned policies and across GOR team risk assessments and reporting (ii) Supporting GOR team governance through development and maintenance of team plans and DOIs. Strategy Operational Risk spans an array of potential for financial loss and negative impact on our clients and providers of capital. A developed understanding of Operational Risk is a requirement for this role. From a regulatory perspective, under Section 320 of the European Union Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR), Banks are required to demonstrate the ability to identify their exposures to Operational Risk and have in place an appropriate system of monitoring and control. Understanding this and other relevant regulatory requirements and guidance in respect of Operational Risk is a requirement for this role. While risk management is carried out by the First-Line, Operational Risk are accountable for monitoring and ensuring that Operational Risk is appropriately identified, assessed, understood / calibrated, controlled and managed, with Risk Appetite clearly articulated and supported by appropriate stress testing. Operational Risk are also responsible for ensuring appropriate escalation, follow-up and learning from Operational Risk Events / Incidents. The role-holder is expected to deliver the required expertise to facilitate delivery of these accountabilities by CROs, Risk Officers and others. Working in partnership with Country and Regional Second-Line Operational Risk experts, those charged with Operational Risk management in the First-Line and identified SMEs enterprise wide the team is charged with ensuring the adequacy of - and adherence to - a comprehensive Operational Risk Type Framework. This role requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, to enable Process Owners and RFOs within First and Second Line Country, Regions Segments and Functions, to work in partnership in adhering to required NPRT Policies and stand-alone Standards. Business The role-holder is also responsible for taking a lead in delivery of the following Advice and Engagement Offering NPRT RFOs and SMEs, subject matter expertise around more technical areas of Operational Risk. Support Taking ownership of and managing delivery of core end-to-end Second-Line Operational Risk responsibilities of NPRT RFOs and SMEs. Processes Take ownership for ensuring NPRT RFOs / SMEs adhere to their Effectiveness Review (&ldquoER") Second-Line accountabilities within the Operational Risk Type Framework. Follow nWOW by ensuring that NPRT ER priorities are known, re-defined when required and that delivery is regularly assessed for improvements. Adhere to such other activities and governance requirements as requested by line management, from time to time, e.g. developing and continually improving the ER testing methodology. Act as an advocate for Operational Risk, its objectives and best practice in Operational Risk management. People and Talent Team Management Uphold and reinforce the independence of the Operational Risk Framework. Leadership Lead through example and tone and help to build the appropriate culture and values within the team and across the wider organisation, communicating vision and building commitment and energy to focus on key priorities. Risk Management Ensure all activity adheres to the Risk Management Framework, with a specific focus on ensuring an effective framework for the management of Operational Risks within the team, as they pertain to the role. Governance Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role. Deliver &lsquoeffective governance\' capability to challenge colleagues effectively and willingness to work in an open and cooperative manner with all. Regulatory and Business Conduct Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group&rsquos Values and Code of Conduct. Our Ideal Candidate The role holder will have significant experience in Operational Risk management within the Banking industry, including relevant regulation and industry trends. In particular, the role holder will demonstrate: A rigorous and analytical approach to risk management. Experience of business partnering, including the ability to synthesise and articulate complex and technical topics clearly to diverse audiences. Ability to manage a diverse and challenging stakeholder community / team. Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills. Specific strong competence in the use of Excel for analysis of complex data and PowerPoint for communication purposes. Ideally the role holder will have specific experience of Operational Risk frameworks and have an in-depth knowledge of some of the key organisational and operational challenges faced by a Second-Line Operational Risk function. The role holder should comply with all mandatory e-learning as prescribed from time to time.
