Manager - Compliance

Alpha Alternatives is a multi-asset class alternatives asset management platform based out of India and Singapore, with over 8000 crores of assets under management, and deep focus on alpha generation. We are passionate about finding alternative investment opportunities that can deliver superior risk-return characteristics. We operate across various alternative spaces like Commodities, Equities, Absolute Returns, Structured Credit, Fixed Income and Quant. Our products span across various investment structures such as NBFC (ND-SI), AIF (Cat II & III), PMS, RIA and Gift City.

Our team consists of 150+ people who are vastly experienced across domestic and global hedge funds and financial institutions and have strong academic credentials at top universities.

Qualification & Background:

We are seeking a Company Secretary (0-10 years of experience) as our Compliance team who is looking forward to an extremely intense and challenging role in our hedge fund-styled investing platform. An ideal candidate would be someone who has held senior position in a similar profile in the asset management / financial services space. Candidates with specific experience in the Mutual Fund / AIF / PMS space will be highly preferred.

Roles & responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage the compliance and secretarial functions end-to-end of the entire platform. NBFC (ND-SI), AIF, PMS, Investment advisor & stock broking compliances are the prime focus areas.

2. Continually engage with the Product team on designing and launching of new financial products.

3. Proactively advise the leadership team and Board on potential compliance related risks and risk mitigation strategies. Monitor regulatory changes, assess impact on business, provide comments on consultative papers

4. Liaise with regulators like RBI, SEBI & ROC and other regulators as needed.

5. Review and ensure submission of various regulatory filings. Recommend and institutionalize best governance policies and practices.

6. Over a period, expected to build a team for different sub-functions, as required

7. Establish an audit program for the various licenses

You will be expected to take a lot of initiative to do on-the-job learning about different financial instruments, products, regulatory structures - both onshore and offshore. You will be required to be flexible across functions and lead multiple projects simultaneously. We expect you to have higher energy, higher intellectual capability and a desire to handle bigger responsibilities than an average professional of your age/experience will generally do.

Compensation:

Salary will be discussed individually with selected candidates. We value long-term players and the compensation will have a significant element of performance-linked bonuses. In the long run, if you do well, you can expect to create disproportionately higher value for yourself.

Location: Dadar, Mumbai.

Candidates applying from cities other than Mumbai, shall have a clear conviction about moving to Mumbai before applying.
