In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state governments, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, strengthening human resources for health, and non-communicable diseases. These programs are funded by USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Children\xe2\x80\x99s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), MSD for Mothers and other anonymous donors.

Jhpiego is hiring for position of Advisor for managing Udaan Collaborative based at New Delhi. This position reports to the Deputy Chief of Party. The selected individual will lead the creation of the world\xe2\x80\x99s largest network of stakeholders committed to the health and well-being of young people involving pharmacists, health care providers, corporates, other alliances and donors.

The position will work closely with the India Country Office and private sector stakeholders for the implementation of the project focusing on improving Family Planning and Reproductive Health (FP/RH) for young population in India. The project vision is to demonstrate innovative models to leapfrog young people\xe2\x80\x99s reproductive health and family planning outcome. It will also promote adaptation of possible models from evidence-based high impact interventions demonstrated in previous programs. This project is also expected to catalyze lessons learned from USAID\xe2\x80\x99s previous investments on FP/RH for youth.

This position requires public health experience, strong coordination skills, understanding of Indian public health system and ability to develop positive, professional working relationships with various stakeholders like development partners; provider and pharmacy associations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in the development of a workplan for the Udaan Collaborative that includes objectives, activities, timeframes, budget, and responsibilities.
  • Develop the strategy and business plan for enrolling pharmacists and providers for a collaborative that aims to provide adolescent and youth friendly health services. Identify and work towards activating different revenue streams to ensure Udaan Collaborative as a sustainable social enterprise
  • Institute QA & QI initiatives to ensure delivery of services as per standards listed in the Adolescent and Youth Health Friendly Services Guidelines
  • Collaborate to create digital orientation modules that would allow for self-paced learning of the AYFHS standards. Forge partnership for hosting the AYFHS orientation module on portals that are used by providers for continuing medical education
  • Execute digital and on ground activities targeted at young people to increase demand for sexual and reproductive health products and services that will be provided by pharmacies and health care providers associated with the project.
  • Create an electronic referral mechanism for enabling access to appropriate care.
  • Lead development of a digital platform that will have both provider and consumer facing information
  • Deploy e-RUPI digital vouchers to help address financial barriers to accessing care from providers.
  • Lead resource mobilization from the corporates and private sector through various strategic channels including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mechanisms for sponsoring e-RUPI vouchers and furthering the activities of the collaborative.
  • Plan for introduction of new contraceptive methods like implants and sub-cutaneous DMPA within Udaan Collaborative
  • Work across private, public and technical sectors to facilitate identification of synergies and opportunities for creative new partnerships, including with e-pharmacies
  • Represent and share/present on behalf of the collaborative at various national and state level advocacy platforms
  • Develop progress updates and reports on the activities undertaken under the collaborative as per the internal and external (Donor) requirements
  • Identify new alliances and partnerships for Udaan Collaborative, serve as a liaison between Udaan Collaborative and other advocacy partners, networks and coalitions.
  • Seek feedbacks on strengthening functioning of Udaan Collaborative.
  • Prepare advice on policy issues including research, drafting tasks, think-pieces, policy papers, consultation, data analysis and decision-making papers, etc.
  • Manage and guide contracted partners including 1) a strategic communications consortium comprising of four leading agencies specializing in communications, media planning, digital interventions and PR and 2) a youth agency that also operates the Udaan Collaborative helpline 3) a digital agency that manages the chatbot and other partners who may be onboarded as per requirement
  • Develop results metrics and track progress. Develop the sustainability strategy that considers investments from both public and private sector.
  • Align and ensure efficient and effective administrative operations, maximizing the input and support of other Jhpiego staff and consultants as appropriate
  • Perform other activities, as assigned by the supervisor to achieve organizational goals
Required Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in public health, international affairs, policy, health reform, management, or a related field
  • 7 years and above of experience in Public Health sector and At least 2 years of managing staff.
  • Technical knowledge and field experience of implementing large scale public health programs, particularly those on family planning and youth engagement
  • Strong technical expertise, good management skills, and excellent communication skills are the essentials for this position.
  • Prior experience in managing networks of private health care providers and pharmacies, including provider recruitment, supportive supervision and mentoring of individual providers
  • Demonstrated hands on experience of managing multiple partners and mobilizing resources from private sector/corporate sector will be preferred.
  • Prior experience with start-ups or social enterprises and business model development will be an advantage
  • Prior experience of working on USAID Projects / other donor funded bilateral is desirable
