Job Title: Accounting Manager

The Team : Morningstar\xe2\x80\x99s Finance team is responsible for accounting, financial reporting, planning, forecasting, and analyzing the company\xe2\x80\x99s financial results. The team works collaboratively with our business groups, sales, product and country leaders to support our strategy and growth initiatives and help make informed business decisions to create value.

Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced finance professional to join our dynamic team in the role of Accounting Manager. As a member of the finance team, you will contribute to the smooth operations of outsourced accounting operations of 6 locations across Asia and assist in ensuring accuracy of accounting, reporting and compliances by the outsourced accounting team. You would be the key connection between various stakeholders and the outsourced accounting team and help fix any break of processes and manage expectations.

The position is based out of Mumbai and will report to Assoc Director, Finance - Asia.

Responsibilities:

Outsourced Accounting Coordination:

  • Transition from the current team, the relationship and tasks involved in relation to the outsourced accounting vendor.
  • Coordinate on a regular basis with outsourced accounting function / internal shared services team (IFS) ensuring the input processes to outsourced accounting team and the output processes of the said team to various stakeholders are functioning smoothly.
  • Review the said input and output processes to bring in efficiencies or fill in expectation gaps.
  • Perform the tasks that are allocated to the enabling team in eh entire chain including payment authorizations, intercompany settlements, reconciliations etc as per RACI matrix
  • Review adherence of the outsourced accounting team to pre-agreed processes for execution and recording of transactions as well as for financial reporting.
  • Assist in the review and analysis of financial reports produced by outsourced teams for 6 locations viz. China, Hongkong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and S. Korea, addressing any discrepancies and providing guidance for improvement.
  • Ensure that the periodic financial closing processes are followed by the outsourcing partner.
  • Ensure that expenses are recorded as per global guidance as well as, as per budgets.
Assist Financial Planning;
  • Collaborate with the regional financial planning team to ensure actual expense recording and those budgeted are in sync with respect to various accounting and management code combinations and that actuals and budgeted lines are thus comparable
  • Provide details of monthly exceptions and insights into expense breakups as needed by FP&A team.
  • Ensure continuity of business through periodic cash flow planning.
Financial Compliances:
  • Ensure that compliances with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and internal policies are met by outsourced partners.
  • Evaluate and mitigate compliance risks
  • Plan for any compliance audits or events.
  • Engage with outsourced partners to be updated on and modify processes to comply with regulatory changes
Business Partnership and collaboration:
  • Be a bridge between business stakeholders and outsourced accounting partners for various operational processes like Payables, Receivables and Reporting. Review processes for efficiencies and business expectations
  • Collect feedback and expectations from various stakeholders involved in the payables, receivables and reporting process
  • Collaborate with internal Financial Shared Services (IFS) team and find opportunities for streamlining operations by optimising activities between IFS and outsourced accounting partner
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a finance role, especially in managing outsourced accounting functions
  • Adequate knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear and actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Finance / Accounting, or a related field; MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CA, CMA) is a plus.
  • Experience in managing outsourced accounting for China / ASEAN locations could be an added advantage.
