Main Purpose:
Accounting function and Balance Sheet management in charge of 6 countries

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the accounting team of 8-10 direct reports
  • Ensuring financial integrity of the following: General Ledger, Sales Records, Purchases Records, Inventory, Annual affixing of the required tax stamps to books
  • Timely closing of month end ledgers
  • Review of Balance Sheet & schedules forming part of the balance sheet on monthly basis for countries and entities assigned to you
  • Contribute towards process improvement by working closing with the cross functional and cross border teams while streamlining and automating repetitive accounting processes
  • Review of various reconciliations done by the accountants
  • Highlights any risks sitting in the balance sheet to the stakeholders
  • Discussing the various issues raised by global stakeholders during the balance sheet review with regional consolidation team and ensure that those are immediately addressed
  • Provides guidance on general accounting according to group policy
  • Provide inputs on the weekly/monthly cash flow forecast in conjunction with treasury
  • Enforce internal controls. This entails ensuring adherence to Puma financial Procedures as advised in the Puma group Control Policy
  • Coordinate, monitor, and execute independent audits, provide all necessary information for compliance on deadlines. Work closely with independent auditors during and preparing schedules for the annual audit. Revise the computation of employment termination payments.
  • Preparation of the Annual Financial Report including financial statements, notes, supporting schedules, transmittal letter and statistical information.
  • Ensure company act compliance per jurisdiction in conjunction with the country finance manager


Experience, Skill and Competencies
  • Qualified accountant and/or relevant industry accounting experience of 8-10 years
  • People management skills (8-10 direct reports)
  • Understanding of IFRS standards
  • Business minded orientated is a plus
  • Demonstrable numeracy Skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information - experience with cross cultural teams preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficient
  • Can work independently
  • Basic knowledge of direct and indirect taxes
  • Demonstrable ability to drive business process changes - challenging current business practices, working with key business process personnel
  • Experience of interacting and communicating with middle and top management
