Location Mumbai Business Renewable Energy Business 1) Job Purpose To lead the wind resource linked renewable energy project development initiatives for the organization to ensure availability of financially prudent and operationally feasible future power project portfolio for the organization. To assess and analyze the wind resource potential across India for the development of wind/hybrid energy projects. The primary goal is to provide accurate and detailed information about the wind resource characteristics, such as wind speed, direction, turbulence, and other meteorological factors that influence the generation of wind power. To keep update on changing regulatory framework, wind /hybrid development activities across country, availability of potential area/sites and find the best course of action beneficial for the organization to get into the wind energy business. 3) Job Context & Major Challenges (What are the specific aspects of the job that provide a challenge to the jobholder in the context of the Unit/Zone
1. In country like India, the biggest challenge is the availability and quality of accurate and reliable meteorological data. Obtaining comprehensive and long-term data sets is challenging, especially in remote or undeveloped regions. 2. The wind flow patters are very complex due to various factors such as topography, land cover, nearby obstacles, changing environment etc. Analysing and modelling the complex wind flow patterns accurately is challenging and needs advanced knowledge and expertise of modelling. 3. Wind resources exhibit natural variability over time, which adds uncertainty to wind energy predictions. Estimating long-term wind patterns and accurately quantifying the uncertainty associated with wind resource assessments pose challenges for analysts. Capturing the spatial variations in wind speed and direction is crucial for selecting optimal turbine locations within a wind farm. Proper statistical analysis and consideration of confidence intervals are necessary to address this issue. 4. There are continuous advancements in turbine technology, control systems, and data collection methods. Staying up to date with these technological developments is essential for Wind Resource Analysts to ensure accurate and relevant assessments and selection of right model for maximum possible generation from project. 5. Wind energy projects must consider environmental factors and potential impacts on wildlife, habitats, and local communities. Wind Resource Analysts need to integrate environmental data, such as migratory bird patterns or noise regulations, into their assessments. 6. Wind energy projects are subject to various regulatory and policy frameworks that may differ across regions and countries. Wind Resource Analysts need to navigate these frameworks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, permitting processes, and environmental impact assessments. ` Annexure I : ABG Template ` 4) Principal Accountabilities Accountability Supporting Actions Data Analysis Collecting, processing, and analyzing meteorological data, including historical wind speed and direction measurements, to identify patterns, trends, and variations in the wind resource at potential project sites. Site Assessment Conducting on-site visits and assessments to evaluate the topography, terrain, and other factors that may impact wind flow and energy production. This involves analyzing the site's suitability for wind turbines, assessing any potential obstacles or constraints, and estimating the energy yield Modeling and Simulation Utilizing specialized software tools and models to simulate wind flow and predict wind resource potential. This involves inputting meteorological data, conducting statistical analyses, and generating wind resource maps and reports Collaboration and Communication Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and environmental specialists, to ensure the accurate integration of wind resource data into project design and development plans. Effectively communicating complex technical information to stakeholders and providing recommendations based on the analysis. Continuous Monitoring and Research Monitoring operational wind farms to validate the accuracy of wind resource predictions and identify any discrepancies. Keeping up to date with the latest research, industry trends, and technological advancements in wind resource assessment and renewable energy. Met mast installation for energy assessment Inline of business plan and readiness of robust project pipelines, Identification of potential wind area and installation, maintenance of wind met masts for energy assessments. 5) Job Purpose of Direct Reports Met mast installation and maintenance engineer (01 Nos) To ensure safe and timely installation of planned met masts across different parts of country and keep updating through regular maintenance and receipt of wind data to ABREL data base.
