Fuse and join metal parts using various techniques like arc, MIG, and TIG welding. This includes building structures, repairing equipment, and filling seams or holes.
Reading and interpreting plans:
Analyze and follow blueprints, sketches, and specifications to understand project requirements.
Material preparation:
Prepare metal surfaces by cutting, grinding, and cleaning them before welding.
Equipment operation and maintenance:
Set up and operate welding machines and related equipment, such as torches and power supplies. Welders are also responsible for maintaining their tools and equipment.
Quality control:
Inspect completed welds for accuracy and quality, identifying any flaws or defects.
Safety compliance:
Adhere to strict safety regulations, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure a safe work environment at all times.
Workplace tasks:
Work from specifications, drawings, and weld symbols, and use hand tools, clamps, and jigs to position and secure parts for welding.
