Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
Prepare and clean metal surfaces and materials for welding.
Use a variety of welding methods like MIG, TIG, and arc welding to join metal parts.
Cut and shape metal to required sizes and specifications using various tools.
Inspect and test welds to ensure they meet quality standards and are free from defects.
Operate heavy machinery and hand tools safely and effectively.
Maintain welding equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.
Coordinate with other workers, such as fabricators and fitters, to complete projects.
Skills and qualifications
Proficiency in different welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick welding, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques and metal properties.
Physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments, sometimes at heights.
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Strong knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE).
Good communication and teamwork skills.
