Scope

Position Overview/Summary

AON| Impact Forecasting (IF), is looking for a vulnerability modeler for US flood - senior scientist. This is a full-time position located in Bangalore (India), to build stochastic and scenario models for the US and its territories, and to quantify and manage catastrophe risk in insurance and reinsurance industry.

Responsibilities

\xc2\xa7 Develop vulnerability functions for different regions based on building inventory data.

\xc2\xa7 Development and calibration of bespoke vulnerability functions.

\xc2\xa7 Develop component-based vulnerability for freshwater flooding and storm surge (using computer simulation and/or claims).

\xc2\xa7 Use IF proprietary loss modeling platform ELEMENTS in estimating loss.

\xc2\xa7 The individual will actively collaborate with R&D team and software development teams in all aspects of the model development and implementing the methodologies developed by the R&D group at IF.

\xc2\xa7 Provide critical analysis of modeling results for internal validation of models and explaining results to clients when needed.

Role-specific Technical Skills and Knowledge (including any educational or degree requirements, years of prior work experience, etc.)

\xc2\xa7 This position requires a master\xe2\x80\x99s degree and preferably a PhD in Engineering/Science/Mathematics.

\xc2\xa7 Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

\xc2\xa7 Solid knowledge of probability concepts and statistics

\xc2\xa7 General understanding about structural engineering (preferred but not a necessity).

\xc2\xa7 Excellent understanding and at least 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 direct experience in vulnerability related to any peril. The candidate should have a general understanding about construction codes and practices (preferred but not a necessity).

\xc2\xa7 Proficiency in data analysis and excellent programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or R.

\xc2\xa7 Some knowledge of insurance/reinsurance concepts is a plus

\xc2\xa7 Excellent skills in oral and written communication

\xc2\xa7 Capability to work in a team effectively and respect teamwork environment
