Hybrid Working BUK & BX \xe2\x80\x93 All locations We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We\xe2\x80\x99re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances These requests will be reviewed and agreed for a period of time i.e., will have a start and end date.
Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager. Introduction: Control Assurance Services works across all Business Units and Functions providing the Chief Controls Officer with assurance regarding the effectiveness of controls, associated remedial activities and control coaching to improve the risk and control profile across the organisation. The successful candidate would work within the Transformation and Issue Closure Assurance teams to review the actions across the Group to strengthen the associated control environment, validating whether the intended outcome has been achieved and its associated sustainability. The successful candidate will also be instrumental in the implementation and execution of the enhanced issue closure process, which will provide additional assurance for a subset of regulator identified issues. The role will require the successful candidate to work in partnership with a wide variety of stakeholders across the First, Second and Third Lines of Defence. The role offers the successful candidate opportunities to challenge and influence outcomes to further enhance the control environment Barclays. What will you be doing?

  • Lead and drive the implementation and execution of the enhanced issue closure validation methodology.
  • Provide guidance, support and independent assurance to Leadership in the remediation of controls, confirming whether they have been effectively designed, can be evidenced as operating effectively and are embedded.
  • Meet the needs of key internal and external risk processes, reporting schedules, stakeholders and regulatory authorities in delivering assurance activities.
  • Evaluate, report and escalate risks in line with Barclays risk and control frameworks.
  • Provide an opinion as to whether risks have been fully mitigated and whether implemented controls are sustainable.
  • Conduct risk assignments in line with Barclays Policies and Standards, associated tools / methods and quality levels ensuring compliance to Operational Risk framework(s) and emerging requirements.
  • Contribute to the continued evolvement and embedding of the target operating model for the Transformation and Issue Closure Assurance team.
  • Proactively manage Stakeholder expectations to promote an understanding and achievement of risk management objectives, ensuring awareness of responsibilities regarding risk and control.

Skills that will help you in the role
  • Undergraduate degree or relevant business experience;
  • Proven experience in one or more of the following: Internal/External Audit; Operational Risk Management; or Risk, and/or Control-related disciplines, for example Controls Testing;
  • Experience of working in a Bank or Financial Services;
  • Team Management experience;
  • Knowledge of the Financial Services regulatory environment
  • A good understanding of risk and control assessment techniques; and
  • Good communication skills and a proven ability to work in a matrix organisation.
  • Specialist Risk and/or Control-related qualification \xe2\x80\x93 formal accreditation / qualification relating to audit, risk and/or control etc.; and
