The Valuations and Analytics Group in Product Control is a global team responsible for all aspects of the calculation of fair value for traded instruments in Global Markets and additionally undertakes oversight and support for fair value calculations across the rest of HSBC Group (predominantly Global Banking and Corporate Centre). The Valuations and Analytics Group is part of Global Product Control and is split into 4 main areas of (1) Quantitative Analytics including Models (2) Fair Value Methodology (3) Production, and (4) Reporting, Governance & Analysis. The Opportunity: This role is a senior position within Valuation Control and will be an integral part of setting up the Valuations and Analytics team in India. This is a role with considerable remit across several areas and a wide set of senior stakeholders across the firm. The role holder will have to independently drive conversations on valuations with stakeholders who are responsible for their respective businesses. What you’ll do:

• Build and Lead high performance Valuation Control/Analytics team based out of Bangalore, continue to improve the knowledge and skillset of the team and maintain a deep bench strength
• Build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders including Regional Valuation Control and Asset class leads, Front office, Core Product Control, IMR and wider Finance.
• Responsible for the oversight of IPV, FVA and Prudent valuation balances.
• Monitoring model restrictions and recommendations.
• Work to ensure consistency in policies/standards across sites/teams and implement strategies to improve consistency where it is not already in place.
• Participation on all strategic change initiatives including various projects and system/ infrastructure enhancements within Valuation Control.
• Identify areas for process improvement and find innovative solutions with specific focus on improving controls and reducing operational risks.
• Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

Requirements
What you will need to succeed in the role:

• Understanding of the key work undertaken within the valuations group and experience in product/valuation control with good knowledge of Global Markets Product.
• Good quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
• Stakeholder focused, with relationship building, analytical and project management skills
• Team management / people management experience will be an advantage.
• Strong communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills
• Sound judgment and problem solving skills, ability to think laterally
• Commercial Mind set and ability to drive efficiency & change
• Ability to manager relationships with diverse stakeholders
• Professional qualification such as CPA, CFA and FRM will be an added advantage.
