Job Responsibilities & Activities

J.P. Morgan Private Bank is a global wealth management leader that delivers the highest quality advice, service, capabilities, and products to ultra-high and high net worth individuals and families in 36 countries around the world. We deliver highly customized and comprehensive solutions to help clients with the many complexities they face by leveraging the capabilities of the firm. Private Banking is involved with every facet of wealth management, including investments, liquidity and credit management, and tax and estate planning. Our business model focuses on deep client relationships, an integrated team structure and a platform of depth and breadth.

This India team would play a support role to the Private Bank Client Advisors (CA's) and their Analysts, operate as an extension of the global team and be responsible to help the CA's on several aspects of servicing their clients (however the India team members would not have any direct client interaction and not be involved in licensed activities, they will be responsible to partner/support the Client Advisors and their Analysts only) mainly as described below - * Coordinating with Onshore Analyst team to initiate account opening documentation (most communication/correspondence will go through Onshore analysts)
  • Preparing presentations and materials for client meeting (Updating pitch books and other marketing materials)
  • Preparing presentations and materials for prospective client meetings (background research, other client connections, recent news, establish source of wealth, identify news/ politically exposed persons))
  • Set up Investment Mandate documentation
  • Assisting in account opening/ client onboarding/ KYC processes
  • Researching client inquiries and managing follow-up communication and materials - delivered to on-shore point-person for review
  • Periodic updating of client information (including managing mail/ subscription list)
  • Partnering with various functional partners to service clients (including prospect maintenance, pipeline management, call memo updating)
Specific responsibilities of the individual in a Regional / Market(s) lead role would be as follows -
  • The lead would need to be hand-on, develop in-depth subject matter expertise with the tasks described above and contribute to the particular Region / Market aligned, as well as guide the junior resources on the team with functional nuances
  • Identification and hiring appropriate talent with varying experience levels, staffing the team appropriately and managing them both individually and as a collective team - setting goals, monitoring progress and offering ongoing career guidance
  • Responsible for Business Development - Apply business / product / process understanding to identify opportunities to build depth in the function, move up the value chain from a complexity standpoint and work towards end to end ownership of appropriate tasks
  • Establish strong controls and governance framework to ensure proper integration of the India team with the global partners
  • Stakeholder management - effective communication and regular status reporting to key business stakeholders
  • Ensure consistency and process efficiencies across the team, and identify opportunities for process improvements; Analyze existing capabilities and identify priority gaps and opportunities
  • Lead and be the catalyst for change as requirements and priorities shift as we progress from planning to execution
  • Encourage and drive collaboration with related functions/groups supporting this business locally and globally to drive integration and efficiency
Personal Attributes & Requirements

We seek candidates with a unique blend of leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills. In addition to functional responsibilities, the lead is expected to act as a key engagement point with location teams and lead a highly motivated team for both qualitative and quantitative resources to understand complex financial situations and present solutions. Specific qualifications include:
  • MBA/CFA or an equivalent professional degree with 12+ years of experience
  • Broad experience in Financial/Banking Industry and understanding of the client life cycle and Products/Asset classes
  • Experienced people manager adapt at working in matrix organization and managing dynamic high performance teams
  • Any experience in building and leading offshore teams would be helpful
  • Proactive, self-motivated and solution oriented approach, project management skills would be useful
  • Hands on multi-tasker, self directed, capable of working independently and as part of the team.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagements skills, strong understanding of the needs and sensitivities of client management
  • Absolute discretion when dealing with confidential matters
  • Able to work independently and adaptable to work in demanding environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral
  • Exceptional follow-up and follow-through skills
  • PowerPoint and Excel expertise required
  • Knowledge of BI Tools to lead business/process simplification initiatives would useful
