Venture Growth Manager

POSITION PURPOSE:

In our Crop Science division, we are committed to improving lives through a food system that is better for farmers, consumers and the planet.

We have established a dedicated corporate venture team to drive digital solutions for agriculture. This team will bring together people with different professional skills, expertise and backgrounds to focus on innovative digital solutions for farmers across India. As a member of this team, you will be part of a Silicon-Valley-startup type internal venture within Bayer and you have the chance to shape the future of digital agriculture in a fast-moving environment full of opportunities.

Bayer aims to empower smallholder farmers in rural India by creating an digitally-enabled ecosystem platform to help farmers gain access to financing, best-in-class inputs, agronomic know-how and linkage to markets. The main purpose of the role of the Growth Manager is to drive commercial scaling of Bayer\'s ecosystem platform (lead transition from pre-launch to full national launch). This needs commercial activation in multiple states and includes adaption of product value proposition to local requirements to drive commercial growth. It also involves activating both internal and external stakeholders such as farmers, farmer cooperatives, crop traders & processors, financial institutions, farm input and machinery providers.

As a Growth Manager, you develop the ecosystem platform\'s growth plan, coordinate and execute growth programs using clear performance metrics and data-driven user insights and optimize the revenue funnel towards a repeatable model.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and drive the venture expansion strategy to acquire, activate and retain customers and users
  • Maintain close links with key stakeholders in the relevant markets in order to establish a deep understanding of customer, market and competitor developments
  • Identify and develop growth opportunities in the market and prioritize growth initiatives
  • Build and maintain a process to provide ongoing reporting of key acquisition and usage metrics
  • Provide customer insight, by blending data with a deep understanding of user needs, habits, and perceptions
  • Work with product managers to improve product solutions to the customers, such as iterating UI/UX, adding new features, establishing
  • Collaborate with internal teams (such as operations, marketing, product management, business design and partnerships) to effectively support and scale the venture
  • Prepare and support nation-wide product launches
  • Plan and coordinate marketing campaigns and promotions
  • Develop pricing strategies and approaches
  • Define sales channels, forge collaboration with channel partners
  • Analyze data on marketing performance & identify areas for improvement
WHO YOU ARE:
  • Education: Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of work experience in a start-up/ venture environment, ideally taking a start-up from early stage to growth
  • Ability to understand customer needs and develop products and marketing strategies that address those needs
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, particularly the ability to measure program impact/success
  • Excellent skills in project management to lead cross-functional teams and drive projects to completion on time and within budget
  • Ability to work highly disciplined and well-structured establishing multi-geographical governance efficiently
  • Risk taking and hands-on mentality - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements
  • Willingness to travel and work in the field - literally
  • Know your way around the Indian AgTech and FinTech ecosystem
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience and proficiency in leading small and large group presentations.
  • High intercultural competency and open mind
  • Fluency in English, other Indian languages is an advantage.
